Does anyone have a clue as to which way is best to contact BSPA? I have been trying all week to get hold of someone with no luck. I have tried phoning (never a answer), faxing and e-mailing them and im getting very desperate now. I sent off my membership etc for the year over 6 weeks ago and had nothing back. I want to go to a show on Sunday which is a RIHS qualifier and I cant because you need to have a card! If there is anyone that comes on this forum knows anyone involved with BSPA please could you let me know Thanks

I'm afraid thats the BSPA for you, my friend has a coloured pony and they have been unhelpful, rude, slow to process any registrations and in the end downright nasty towards him. I am sure that there will be people posting on here defending them but that is what I know. If you compete at a qualifier and get your ticket they won't give you your qualification, even though they may have had your application sitting on their desk for weeks, might help you if you check with your bank to see if they have cashed your cheque, then they have entered into a contract? Not really sure of the procedure on that but good luck.

Hi I am registered with the BSPA and sad to confirm that this is just how they are. Definitely do not bother to e-mail as they don't ever return e-mails, you can usually get them on the phone though I know because a friend has a real problem with them at the moment and has rung and spoken to someone everyday!!! Last year I posted all my forms and payed the 48hr turn round fee and they lost it all in their out tray, but when I rang as i needed to have RIHS cards they were very helpful and apologetic and brought all the relevant stuff to the show for me so we could compete. Good Luck and keep trying that is all you can do. Sorry not better news.

BSPA...Don't get me started on this one as i am likely to self destruct before i get to the end of the post!!!! I am having terrible trouble with them over a RIHS qualifier. They are rude, awkward and have one rule for some and another for others. I am now at the point of contacting the H&H as I think that others should be made aware of what is going on in the BSPA. AHHHHHH I'm going to get a Bacardi Breezer and come back later.

I sympathise greatly with you all - BSPA are by far the WORST society out there for any sort of service. 6 weeks is NOTHING to wait for them. I have emailed/rang/sent sae etc for schedules which have never arrived, I have done ditto with membership. They had appalling turnout at their february show because noone could actually get hold of a schedule from them - how awful for the poor show organisers. Currently I have been waiting since LAST OCTOBER for them to sort out my ponies passport. They have lost the paperwork (his covering certificate etc so now we are having to have dna done at MY expense of course) and they have sent me the wrong passport with the wrong details. They are always rude and unhelpful. They took 4 weeks to send me what was effectively a plastic bag for the dna sample in spite of Linda Lodge assuring me personally on the phone that it was being sent out that day - it wasn't. I STILL can't do the brightwell's series as they STILL haven't managed to sort the mess out and give me the correct passport - after SIX WHOLE MONTHS. Every time I ring them they just fob you off or try to make out its your own fault. I too feel like complaining to H&H as noone else can help me - DEFRA have no clout whatsoever even though they make the passport rules

Come on coloured people, time to vote with your feet. A friend has a coloured pony and had a dreadful experience with BSPA last year. Same problem, it was taking months to get reg. card through and when she got a qualifying spot they wouldn't let her have the qual., despite having told her a week before hand that it was being posted. This year she paid express fee to get it turned around quickly and it STILL didn't arrive. What planet are the BSPA on? P(UK) and BSPS get theirs turned round in no time at all and at no extra cost, fancy having to pay an extra fat fee just to try and get a normal service. If any of you have any sense you will boycott them for a season and hit them where it hurts- in their pocket. Maybe then you may get a normal and courteous service and perhaps they will not be so arrogant and rude when their bank balance takes a thrashing.

Dont bother contacting H & H, they are friends with BSPA.
Ask the people who were named and shamed in H & H by the BSPA last year what happened when they tried to put their side of the story.
Find somewhere else to complain

And who would you suggest I complained too then RTK? DEFRA have no clout and trading standards who 'monitor' those who issue passports aren't interested either. I HAVE boycotted them this year which means no RIHS.
The trouble is only a few boycotting is no good and everyone else just puts up with it.

In future get the passport from CHAPS who seem much more efficient. Then you just have to trust the BSPA to overstamp it I wasn't saying not to complain, just that H & H is not a good place to start By the way we haven't bothered joining this year either, is that a start

CHAPS are fabulous really helpful as so quick. BSPA dont get me started They are just bloody awful they need to get their act together - what can we do though? Apart from H&H there are no other mags that will publish that kind of thing and with as big a audience.
Maybe if we send enough letters/emails all at the same time?

Thank you very much Haylage. I did manage to get hold of someone on Friday afternoon after trying all week. Im not sure who I spoke to but she was actually really nice and faxed me a copy of my qualification card within 10 mins. I do think my stuff got mislaid though because she couldn't find it at first and said that I hadn't sent my height certificate which im positive I had. Never mind though the rest of my stuff came through this morning and im very grateful that my card got faxed otherwise I wouldn't have qualified!!
