Dear Newbies and others,
After months of being told about Horse Gossip by many horsey friends up and down the country, I finally found the site, Not through a direct link or google, but eventually found via Yahoo search engine. Looks like this site will be a lot of fun discussing the equestrian version of 'mad cow disease' with like minded folks.
I am the owner and now breeder of Welsh Ponies. I have A's, C's and a couple of D's, and a show pony, (now 20 by Bassford Elegant and grass sickness recoverer)
In the past couple of years I have found that my 'eye' for 'my type' of preferred pony has reduced so significantly and is now reduced down to a very, very narrow field.
I love horse shows and always loved to seek out 'the one' that given the opportunity, I would BUY. For me, this is the ultimate test of whether I truly love any particular pony. However, these days I find I can come away from a show and to be honest, have said time and again that nothing really caught my eye on the day.
Perhaps I am slowly being cured of the disease that has afflicted us all.
Maybe I am a better judge at knowing 'my type of preferred pony'. Perhaps over the years I have become a little jaded!
Not as easy to pleased as I was.
Or is it the case of diminishing returns; the more we see and experience, the less excitement and pleasure those experiences bring. If this is the case for me, I would like to know if the professionals amongst us ever feel the same and I would love to know what motivates those brave, hardworking souls who produce horses and ponies for a living. What on earth keeps you guys going.....?
