Has anyone else noticed the distinct lack of any mention of the Fair on the map for this years championship show?

What also baffles me is that their HOYS classes are £40.00 this year, which is an increase of £4.50 from last year if i'm correct. If you take away the HOYS £9.00 levy from this that still leaves £31.00 for puk!! Meaning they make even more profit from this than a normal class although nothing is different once you've taken out the HOYS levy! its ridiuclous!

Come on guys - you all moaned when the membership went up but have obviously all joined. I didn't waste my money as really didn't enjoy the summer champs last year. For what it cost I'd rather have a proper holiday or stay at home

ponies uk has become to commercial and money grabbing. A lot of people have a lot more fun at BSPS or NPS and at a much better price. Also, when you are there and win or do well, its much more prestigious then a ponies uk win imo

It should not be £10 for a start, yet again another way to get money out of us! But surely it should be per rider anyway because if you fall off, you fall off.....does not matter what horse!!

was it not £10 per rider last year for medical (not per pony) i dont mind paying that as the ist aid is 24/7 as apposed to going to a show doing 1 class and paying £6.00

What you also have to remember is they edge there bets, that if they don't get there entries they will still have to cover there costs, pay for the facilities etc., I am sure that the winter champs will have made a loss. They also have new expensive staff to pay for and yes it is a business i see no harm in that except that as members or shareholders does that mean that one can see the books and have a small share of the profits or have a say in how the money is spent. there are a lot of unanswered Q's

Well I'm not a member of PUK.. so you can all cut me down.. but.. as a member you should all get the accounts before the AGM. Do You? then you can see were the money is going. Is it not on the WWW? As it would stop a lot of speculation, as members would see were the money comes & goes. Will wait for your replies on this

don't pay all the medical fee - it is just a donation and you can pay what you like! - I will certainly pay some but not all of it!! - at least they are trained paramedics!!

Tried that one before and they sent entries back!!! If you dont pay the full amount, the entry is classed as incomplete. We are not members this year, first time in 12 years we have not gone to the summer champs, they can keep it.

You lot would have much more fun at BSPS or NPS anyway. Competition is higher, a lot less money grabbing and commercial all year round not just at the champs. Try it and let us know what you think!

If i thought for one moment the £10 when directly to the paramedics, i would gladly pay, as they do a wonderful service, but I'm not sure if it does.

The numbers for the Winter Champs were down this year and PUK must have lost money. It will be interesting to see how many agree with comments made here about the fees and stay away, maybe if PUK lose money in the summer it will force them to re-think their charges, I have not been for many years because of the cost, unless things improve dramatically, I can't see myself going again. Always go to NPS, much nicer!

Is it £10 per person or £10 per pony?
If you took 3 ponies would that be £30?? Or if you had 3 riders/handlers would that also be £30?
I'm a little confused??
Can anyone help??

Just checked the statement of entries online and it says that the medical donation is £10 Per Horse / Pony.
Does that mean we get free vet care if (god forbid) we needed them whilst at the show?

So technically, if I showed my mare and foal I would have to pay #20 for the PRIVILEGE (as I believe thats what it is according to last Autumns newsletter), plus another #10 per inhand pony for whatever else I take??? That is a purely rhetorical question, as after last summers fiasco, I would never darken their doors again. Vote with your feet if you dont like it, we shall continue to do Malvern, its a lovely show, super venue and to my mind absolute value for money. I'm sure trading standards would have a field day with PUK if they were let loose, I only wish I'd had the strength of character to contact them after being ripped off and not receiving what I'd honestly paid for last summer. The committe and organisers should be made to wear a highwaymans outfit, cos in my opinion, they are nothing short of robbers, and yes Mavis it is a business, but gaining a bad reputation for being extortionists does nothing for your longevity.

unfortunately I rejoined in september but this is the last time, I'm sick of being ripped off!! The increase of £5 for classes is ridiculous and soon mounts up, the medical donation of £10 per pony is daylight robbery and PUK don't seem to be bothered about losing members at all. I certainly would not pay £40 to enter a hoys class when the levy is only £9. Its BSPS and NPS for us next year without a doubt!

This is slightly off topic, but does anybody know if BSPS have open classes you can enter without being a member, like pukey have? Also do you still need a height certificate for these classes?

Post by Lacking first aid on Apr 23, 2007 20:59:35 GMT
was it not £10 per rider last year for medical (not per pony) i dont mind paying that as the ist aid is 24/7 as apposed to going to a show doing 1 class and paying £6.00 You are joking - 24/7 no way! I did the summer champs last year and in my class a childs pony went under the barrier knocking the child off - right by the first aid tent. NOONE came in spite of the stewards calling on walkie talkies multiple times. I had to get off my own pony and give first aid myself to the child since no other qualified first aider was present and everyone else stood around watching. Paramedic turned up after 12 whole minutes. Whilst waiting for my second class in the afternoon a pony reared up in the ring and went over backwards on top of its rider. Again there was a huge delay in gaining first aid - my husband who is a gp had to go and give emergency treatment himself. Disgraceful. And when the paramedic arrived he was EXTREMELY rude (although my husband did get an apology and letter of thanks later). So when you pay your £10 please don't think you will receive great service in return and that your necks and backs will be well looked after - you can die in the 12-15 minutes it takes for that help to arrive. I haven't rejoined this year either

I Have said this before but they have a new expensive team now and it is being run like a buisiness. But you have a choice, if you think its to expensive and is not value for money, then dont go or go and book a stable enter one class per day and then that will be effective in the same way as i am sure the costings, will be on most people booking and average of 2 classes per day.

This is slightly off topic, but does anybody know if BSPS have open classes you can enter without being a member, like pukey have? Also do you still need a height certificate for these classes? You don't need a height certificate for heritage classes and you can enter as a non member - if you've never been a member before, then you have so many days to join for a qualification to be valid.....or something like that - sorry, just off to bed so not able to check exact wording.
