Melanie, I dont know you but I'd just like to say that I really feel for you, having to read such hurtful comments about your pony and your daughter. This is a prime example of why guests should not be allowed to post on here. I cant believe that the moderators left those hurtful comments on here for all to see either. I really hope you find out which people are behind those comments, and name and shame them!
Good luck to you and your daughter for the rest of the season, you deserve it

to be fair, I don't think Drogheda Pearly King looked fat, he looks very well I think, even though he isn't my type of pony. I think he looks better than he has done before

We have a policy that anything libellous or defamatory will be removed as soon as spotted by a mod no questions asked. If you are a regular user you will also know that an email or a pm from a person the post concerns will also result in that post/thread being removed. We can’t be fairer than that.

Melanie and Charlotte - Congratulations! You know when you are doing well when others feel so threatened that they have to "have a go" at you!
At 13 Charlotte you are very young to be competing against adults so an extra well done for your win!
Ignore the negative comments and have a fabulous season.

I think the little girl did really well on DPK especially if she hasn't had him that long, we bought a pony a few years ago (not in the same high league) but never the less a county winner that had been there done it and won it. I didn't realise how much pressure that would put on my daughter to achieve the same results, my friends daughter was the same with her well known section b, and I sometimes wonder if there is less pressure producing one yourself from a youngster. I will say though she learned a lot from him, and we were privileged to have owned him. Well done to your pony for winning although I stand by my comments earlier, some of the individual shows further down the line were floored and the placings perhaps should have been juggled . A massive thumbs up to the judge in question though for mentioning over fat ponies to people riding overfat ponies and not placing them. 10 out of 10 for that.

Which remarks? Were they defamatory, factual or just someone's opinion? From a website that defines "defamatory" ......... That doesn't mean that the mods will allow comments that are insults to remain, but where they are factual then it does pose a bit more of a dilemma for us as to whether we should remove them or not. As Admin says, if we remove them we get criticised, if we don't remove them then we get criticised......isn't it better to allow the right of reply and then let people decide for themselves?

"." But you let comments like this remain?! Jeez!! I wasn't there so how can I know if this is truth? It is IMO someone's opinion - granted not a very nice view to hold, but unless people ask us specifically to delete a post, how do we decide what to delete and what to keep?

Why not just say to yourself, "would I be upset if I read that about my pony?" But then it wouldn't make for a very good read then, would it?!
Come on, you have someone on here who has been upset greatly by these comments, a 13 year old girl no less. If you are fine with that on your conscience then carry on and leave all the nasty stuff that gets posted on here.

Very well said Melanie.
I have never met Lottie in person but have often spoken to her through MSN and we have had many good conversations. Its hard to believe people can be this rude about a 13 year old girl! She does a bl**dy good job competing against adults and instead of slating her people should instead incourage her, for surely she (and her generation) are the show riders and producers of the future ?!?
Well done Melanie and Lottie on your great success firstly with Llew and now with Ronan - keep up the good work.

Concerned I do realize that you are only trying to help and the words posted by some one have obviously upset a few people. By posting what I have posted below I am replying to you and not having a go at you. Whilst I don’t agree with everything that is posted on the site we as mods try to refrain from pulling posts without a reason. I don’t necessarily agree with, or disagree with your version of defamation. What I will say is the quote you have posted was part of a wider post so the quote is just focusing on those few words within the whole post. Which is probably that person’s opinion? People will always view things differently and have a different interpritation of what they see and the facts. Don’t just take on board the dictionaries explanation of the word defamation. You would have to look at it from law point of view. Going back to the post, situations like this would not and should not arise if people took time to check their posts before hitting the reply button. There are many ways to say the same thing which can still get your point over without being close to the bone. To save a lot of falling out I will go through the thread and see if I can do some pruning.

Post by It would upset me on Apr 25, 2007 17:51:56 GMT
Admin, whilst I agree with what you are saying, and I understand where you are comming from........I would be very very upset to read something negative about my pony on here.
Wether it is someones ''opinion'' or ''fact'', if something negative is pointed out in a public forum..........where we know judges do come on and read then yes it could have an adverse effect!!!!!!!!
Showing is not the fariest of sports at all!!! and yes amongst ourselfs we may say, oh that pony dishes, or dosent move from behind, or has a splint etc etc etc and then this is discussed openly.........I can not see how this can have any 'postive' effects.
In this case DPK is a well known pony, currently there is a lot of pressure on a new rider who has a lot to live up to, without now people looking to see what has been pointed out on this site.
I understand all people need to do is pm you and ask for it to be removed, and that fair enough, but I can understand how upset it would make someone.

Yes I’m sure it would upset a few. I would have done exactly what the owners did and respond with my views on the matter if I felt it needed addressing. As the owner I would then expect that be the end of it. ( Which basically it was or should have been if you check) Problem is that other people then join in and start posting. This draws more people in and the next thing everyone is having a say. This can add fuel to the fire. You can see for yourself there are people posting that don’t even know the owners or were at the show but are giving an opinion. I understand that most of these are posts are of support but they can still draw some idiot into posting unsavory remarks that may offend again. Personally I think enough has been said and the owner’s response said all that needed saying. I’m having the last word here because I will lock this thread now. If the owner would like the thread removing or any posts within it removing then an email to kawon@btopenworld.com will get it removed. Or a pm by the owner or a representative of the owner will also get it removed.
