just got 2yr old gelding cob, i was told hes going to need teeth removed any info on this would be great my other gellding who is 7yrs has his teeth checked and he hasnt had any removed please shed some light on this

If it's his wolf teeth, then it's quite normal (although not always necessary) and it's probably best to get them removed now before any removal interferes with his working life. Make sure you use an EDT or vet for the removal though, as non-BEVA recognised dentists aren't permitted by law to remove teeth (as I discovered personally a few years ago)

Wolf teeth are usually removed (if they erupt) as they can get in the way of the bit but there's no guarantee as some of mine have never had wolf teeth grow & one pony only had one come through - just get your dentist to check when he does your other gelding.

My mare is rising 7 she had her wolf teeth removed a couple of years ago, but she still has two teeth- one on either side in her upper jaw that havent broke through yet, I can feel them in her gums. Is this normal? I have been told she has too much testosterone ( thingy in a frock was the description!!) could this be the reason!
