Hope all ponies & riders get home without too much of nightmare journey, and safe & sound. I have been hearing lots of reports of people taking ages to get home on the roads and being stuck on motorways for hours and hours (M3, M4 etc) ...... last thing you need after very long day competing !!

Well, just arrived back after a nightmare journey in heavy snow. Where to start! Massive well dones to all who competed, but in particular - Floreat Dandelion, who looked and went fantastic, his connections should be very proud. To all the junior riders who went out there and held their own amongst very strong company, well done to you all. Personal opinions only - I thought waitwith westwind stood out, Shem went beautifully, the D's I couldn't decide between Galaxy and Dandelion. Kilmannan Black Wizard I had drawn a big smiley face next to his name in my progrmme! I sat directly behind the ponies as they trotted up for the conformation judge - very interesting I must say!
All in all though lovely to see such great examples, here's to doing it all again next year!

Aaah thanks Millesmum, sure my mum will be chuffed to read your comment! Here is link to photo of Dandelion at Olympia for anyone interested ... www.floreatstud.co.uk/images/photos/leo_olympia2009_1.jpgI have quite a few photos of various ponies, but not yet had time to sort them all out and upload etc. I will add link to the album probably tomorrow or Weds depending on work. I agree that Shem went really well, I was thinking he might be pulled in to top placings as they went up .... surprised when he wasnt. He was only given 41/50 for conformation, surprising for a RW winner! But then everyone has their own opinion and different types etc. (40/50 for ride mark) Also a special mention to the Section A Gartconnel Shooting Star who also went beautifully I thought, but another one to suffer as result of conf mark with only 38/50. (41/50 for ride mark) Lexy

Thank you milliesmum, we were thrilled with Leo, hoped he might have got BoB but judges looking for something else today. Many congrats to Fingerprint and his connections, what a lovely pony, and Buckthorn too.
It took us 4 hours to drive home to SW Surrey(1 1/4 to come up), weather fine, temperature not below freezing and roads all clear of any ice. Just weight of traffic, we could have walked it quicker! Radio reports of closed airports, iced-up Mway slip roads etc all due to bad weather but we didn't see any - just cars and more cars!

We left before the end of the afternoon performance, about 4pm, it was sleeting, by the time we got through london it was snowing heavily and traffic was crawling, M25 was very slow - it wasn't till we got as far as leicestershire that the snow cleared and we were able to crack on a bit - I think if we had waited till the end of the performance we would have been spending another night in the capital. As it was it took us 4 and a half hours to get back to Derbyshire.

Massive well done to all Finger Print and all connections. Must be a dream come to true to not only ride the champion but to have also breed him as well.
Congratulations to Henry, Rosie and the Barr Family

Huge congratulations to EVERYONE who qualified, and especially to the BOB's, they are all a credit to their breeders, owners and producers and can all be justifiably proud of themselves!

I expected Dandelion to get BoB, Galaxy didn't have nearly enough trot for me, but that's showing for you. Delighted with the Champion though, I thought he did a super show, even if the judge did have to jump out the way as he did his canter serpentine!

Congrats to all winners. What a shame Kilmannon Black Wizard wasn't placed. He had a very high ride mark according to the results on the internet but a low confirmation mark. He certainly didn't look like he did at HOYS, perhaps because Vicky Hesford no longer produces him and just meets up to ride him at shows. i think it was because his coat hadnt come through and i think the conf judge doesnt like them to be clipped? and you could see the clip lines of the legs a few people had said they had clipped the same as last year and the coat just hadnt come through
