There are no entries in the 15hh Timberwolf SHP I have never seen entries so low, there are no entries at all in some classes and only 12 in the Welsh C&D!!! Maybe the powers that be down @ PUK must have some idea that people are voting with their feet.

Am I behind times now?
Has the PUK South Show lost its HOYS qualification for the SP and SHP classes because they used to pull in good entries?

The Highland/Fells and Dales always seems to have the biggest entries - serves us right for having the "in" breeds!

C&D class split 12 in the C class and 22 in the D class. How do you know there are 22 in the D class, it only sys 12 on the website and thats for the C & D together? I can't believe the entries are so low! How many people actualy enter on the day? is it double price at Puk for day entries?

Last year the numbers were low before hand, although not as low as this years!!! But on the day there were a lot there, I did the HOYS small breeds and the number had doubled from pre-entries to actual entries in the ring on the day and the weather turned very wet!!

well if you have a section c this season looks like your off to hoys, there's more qualifiers than ponies! Its going to be a poor final line up, think maybe a different split would have worked better with c+d's something like splitting mares and gelding/stallions.

i agree with Area 7 fan Addington with its new indoor and massive out door surfaces has got to be the best bet for good going and the classes are RIHS qualifiers with NPS whp and flat, thats where we are of to.

guestx i don't think thats fair, there are some very very good c's about. Mine is not bad but i know i havent a hope in hell in qualifying and in the classes there is definately more ponies then qualifiers! I don't think it will be a poor line up at all! To be honest i have seen a lot more weaker b's, large numbers does not mean good quality!

I also have a very nice C, bought to do workers, have decided he is good enough to do flats, only a 5 year old so probably will not do HOYS qualifiers this season......what are the views on putting youngesters into open classes?
Only hope jockey does not grow much more before next year!!!!!!

First of all, the line up of C's at HOYS will not be poor, ok, I dont know if every pony that gets through to the final will be absoutle top class, but there are some bloody good C's out there, so dont knock em! (one of which is mine ) Just a quick question! usually at Puk HOYS classes, they have a set show, but I cant see this stated in this years schedule???

They used to have a set show, but at the summer champs last year they abolished it i believe so dont think its necessary any longer

I agree theres some really nice C's out its good they have there own class there was just to many when it was C's and D's and took to long to get the classes done also gives the youger riders on the C's a chance to get through rather than having to beat adults/producer on big D's. Just my opinion.

It was a great show to do, but I think it went on too long and took so much time, that might be why they have abolished it.

I think it was a good idea too - although it did state that some and not all of the movements had to be performed, it's just that everyone felt they had to include the serpentine and two full canter circles which is what took up the time.

Oh, well, I shan't be rushed off my feet then - I'm stewarding in the Blue Ring - Brineton, Pollyanna etc.. Are these missing entries trying to tell P(UK) something, do you think?

Over the past few season there have been many quality section Cs that should have gone to HOYs but cant get past the Ds because judges think big is beautiful.

i agree, that although the c classes will be smaller th amount of quality in these classes will be hard to beat, it is very unfair to say that small classes are easy to win, because often they are not! i have been showing for 14years, mainly in show pony classes and have found that some of the smaller classes can quite easily be the hardest to win because of the sheer quality of animals in th ring. we have recently acquired a section c stallion and have found we have acctually done very well with him so far, but the classes are by far not easy, and when comin from a different circuit of ponies e.g show pony or show hunter pony, to enter the other sections be it from sp to m&m or vice versa u reli do have to have something exceptional now a days.
