Do you think this will mean the BSPS will drop the Heritage classes from its main Championship show at the end of August eventually or will this be an additional Championship show? I suspect the latter as it is not scheduled until the end of October,

Sounds good, but I may not go as HOYS ponies are out by then and any lucky enough to be going to Olympia are also on holiday before coming back in. Plus, what about keeping the coats !! when would you clip to have the right growth? After hoys is too late and wouldn't go to hoys clipped Very good idea from bsps though.

It looks great and it says the venue will change each year, at least one society is listening to its members, well done BSPS

Very worrying for the Native Breed Societies, on the road to the universal native pony. what makes you say that?

Rather than the route to universal native pony, this could be a very good "shop window" for the various breeds. Perhaps breed societies could offer a prize/rossette to the highest placed of their breed in the Blue Riband classes? This will (hopefully) encourage entries from all breeds.
Does anyone yet know how qualification will work???

I have just had a look and am quite excited as they are going to include in hand ponies for the first time. Maybe they are hoping to pick up new members that have decided to give PUK a miss for a while.

Look through it folks. It's a money spinner as the BSPS can no longer survive financially on show & Hunter Ponies. We keep the funds rolling in. Interesting and clever move but we must be carefu to consider the welfare issues and not run ponies into the ground all year round.

To be fair i think the BSPS survive quite well finacially especially since puk has gone so down hill. Think it is a great idea, i for one will defintely support it but by no means does this mean my ponies will be run into the ground. That is down to the owner anyway and not the BSPS. I think they are one society who is actually listening to what their member want, others shld follow suit!

I loveeeeeeeee the idea but i agree that all the hoys and olyimpia ponies will be out so they should make seperate classes for them! i think they should improve the heritage more and they have a DESERT ORCHID woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hehe but bsps have to think that they can't have all their shows at the same place ........ wat about Aintree Racecourse - were they have the Grand National - there is a new Equestrian centre there and that would be a great place to go!!!!!!!!!!!! But then i suppose some people may like it to be at Arena UK ...... wat is it like there?

Look through it folks. It's a money spinner as the BSPS can no longer survive financially on show & Hunter Ponies. We keep the funds rolling in. Interesting and clever move but we must be carefu to consider the welfare issues and not run ponies into the ground all year round. Personally I think that all societies should be run as a business and if putting an extra show on creates more revenue then good luck to them. Like others have said it’s good to see that some societies are listing to their members. People do tend to make comment on how long the season is and go on about welfare issues a lot at the moment. Let’s not lose site of the fact that most of the native breeds had to work all year round in one way or another before conscripted into the domesticated pony they are today. I for one think that the life of a native pony is far easier now than it would have been 100yrs ago or even less. Anyway that’s another argument and off topic really. Being a controversial sort of person I would just like to add that I hope that the BSPS have the fore sight to select experienced well versed Native pony judges for the Native finals and not show pony judges. Not that I would attend anyway.

Sounds like a great idea, shame it is on week days during half term Probably ok for most but when you work with people who have children they get priority for holiday during this time. Struggle enough to get one week off in August to go to one champ show. Very much like their idea though.
