Hi There A dear friend texted me today to let me know of this discussion taking place. I think I need to set the record straight. It was decided to compete in the four classes at BSPS Area 5 because all rings were on surface. I happened to be married to the Olympic Farrier, hes good at his job and even though he is my husband I do listen to him and take his advice, and it was decided to compete on the soft surfaces rather than trawl the pony to various other qualifying shows on extremely hard ground. It was beyond our wildest dreams that he would win 4 classes under 4 different judges, but thats what he did. I am not trying to justify our competing, just explaining the facts. I personally know of a handlfull of ponies that competed at three different shows over the weekend, travelled to Cumbria (1B) then went onto a NPS show at Stansted, then in the afternoon Area 15 at Towerlands, I think its these ponies that people need to be concerned about, not only the excessive competing but I dont think people realise the stress the travelling also puts onto the limbs. I think that the wider picture needs to be looked at before making such rash comments as "Poor Broteii Pillow Talk" He's the one laughing now, in the field chilling out. He has now qualified, so we will not be doing what a lot of other competitors do and that is once they have qualified, they keep on competing in the qualifiers...........WHY? ?? Greed,,,, another rosette. The Murrays

Thank you very much for coming on and putting your side of the event. Although people often criticise this site, at least you have the chance to come on and put your point across which is an option not available when people are doing the talking behind your back. Personally, I don't see the big deal - as long as a pony is fit enough to compete in 4 classes, then why not? I did 3 classes at an early show last year and my pony best performance was in the last class!

Please take no notice of the comments made by people such as "Poor Broteifi Pillow Talk", Every time i see you out your ponies are always produced to a high standard, looking well and the ponies always look happy.
I say again, well done on the weekend.
As from now please no more comments regarding The Murray family.

Have to stick my oar in here as well. I think most of us know our own ponies limitations and are educated enough to decide what that is. We have ponies that will do just the one class then they run out of gas. We also have a couple of ponies that will, and more to the point like, doing plenty. We don’t do the show ponies so have not got a clue who you or your pony are but if your pony is it up to it then I don’t see a problem. Don’t take any crap off the do-gooders. Do what you think is correct. That's it Rant over. Well done anyway.

I watched hannah murray and her 14.2 at the show in all four of her classes, and i feel they are sure they know what they are doing and would not put the pony through any strain or stress at all, when watching the pony perfom he never put a foot wrong in any of his classes clearly not a sour pony, not only this but not a sweat was broken and his ears were never once back at all, claerly the pony is happy with his job and the way the murray's look after him. i also know from talking to hannah they didint compete the week before to give him a breather ready for the show, and are not competing next weekend, and the reason they choose area5 was for the simple fact it was on surfaced ground and not hard on his feet.
people are just so jelous and quite obviously if they claerly cant beat them, they have to slag them off!

Oh dear i seem to have ruffled a few feathers, i am however entitled to my opinion and thats all it is, i do not know the Murrays or their ponies i am certainly not jealous as someone said as i do not compete in any of the classes the pony won, The pony obviously is very good to have won 4 classes, but i still think that ponies can and do get sick of doing the same thing over and over again. just my views.

i still think that ponies can and do get sick of doing the same thing over and over again. just my views. There is nothing wrong with that view, but The Murrays have already said the fact they have qualified means they don't have to continue attempting the qualifiers and therefore the pony will probably have to do less repetitive classes than those of us not lucky enough to qualify first time. Both sides have now had their say so please don't take discussion of this particular incident any further. If you wish to start a new thread about the general matter of how much is too much, then that is fine but keep it impersonal. Thanks.
