The people's langauage was common and offensive, not the horses, it felt like i was watching from the middle of Brixton! I don't think offensive language is restricted to people who live in Brixton and I find your post quite judgemental and narrow-minded. If this is an amateur champ, then perhaps some constructive criticism could help people less experienced than yourself rather than using it as an opportunity to let people know how much you love yourself.

For the attention of amateur. Why did you bother to go to the amateur champs if you're such a big shot who's cobs have been to HOYS??!! And as for people's language being offensive and common! I've worked in Brixton and believe me, you're being offensive and common in your slating of people. PEOPLE OF ALL CLASSES (YES THE WORKING CLASS TOO!!) can have horses and can want to compete their much loved animals as much as anyone else. Can I just put a couple of quotes from THE AMATEUR SHOW SOCIETY WEBSITE Rider / handler : Must never have been placed 1st - 6th at RIHS, HOYS or Olympia in a showing class in the previous 5 years . Rider / handler must not receive payment for competing or producing other owners horse/pony in either in-hand or ridden showing from 1stof January of membership year and whilst a member. Horse / pony never to have been places 1st - 6th at RIHS, HOYS or Olympia in a showing class in the previous 5 years . Horse / pony must not have been kept in a professional show producers yard within the 6 months prior to membership or whilst a member. AND MOST OF ALL "Many amateur horse owners invest a lot of time energy and money into their horses and feel that they do not receive the recognition they deserve in the show ring. This new society will give people the opportunity to qualify and compete at the national championship show on a level playing field. " "These championships will be a fantastic event, giving amateurs the chance of staying overnight with their horses and ponies, there will be evening performances, demonstrations, lots of great prizes to be won, and above all a wonderful championship atmosphere focusing on good sportsmanship and a level playing field." If you have HOYS standard animals, go play with the big players. I think that once the amateur society catches on it will encourage thousands of new "COMMON" people to show.

Reciept of sponsorship is something the society may want to look at, since one big winner is sponsored, and this isn't allowed in ameteur classes in most other societies.

Well I for one think it is a fab show with loads of potential to grow and develop. I find it amazing that people are so intent on say such rude things about others peoples horses. We all know judging come down to the person in the middle on the day and I am sure they could justify every place from the weekend! I was not aware of a lot of offensive language for people at the show........
"If you have HOYS standard animals, go play with the big players. I think that once the amateur society catches on it will encourage thousands of new "COMMON" people to show." - I couldn't agree more!!! Maybe some people are actually scared of what they saw at this show as it could mean more competition for them in the future.
Hats off to the organisers of amatuer showing and I will continue to support them all the while I can!

I organise and run the amateur showing society, i do it purely to give pleasure to others it takes a lot of my time, for those who have nothing but offensive detrimental comments, Go and play somewhere else, this society is about having fun and being sportsman like, I find some of your comments very offensive, tell me another show where the whole day is run to a timetable, all classses go in on time, no one is rushing about like idiots we dont charge a fortune for entry fees and the rosettes are of a high standard. We are a new society and we will listen and learn, as we go. I personally think the standard of horse was very good, bearing in mind that we dont compete at HOYS etc, these are amateurs and think you small minded people should remember that.
I found all competitors, judges, stewards, spectators very polite, no one was offensive that i saw, perhaps you would like to elaborate on this. I look forward to receiving your letter of complaint and perhaps you will be brave enough to put your name to it.
I wonder what point there is for you running down the society or is it just sour grapes.
To everyone that competed and enjoyed it thank you, for all your lovely words of thanks. It cant of been that bad juding by the number of letters, phonecalls and emails of thanks

I would like to say a huge thank you to the organisers of this show, something like this has been needed for a long time.
We had an exceptional day with my black fell stallion in the hand, the judges were polite, the secretary was polite and all in all it was run extremely well.
I just feel sad that people crab, up and coming societies without even giving them the chance toget off the ground.
Yes I agree there was a lot of diferent standards there but we all have one common thing - we love our horses!!
I hasten to add my pony wasn't fat, offensive or common in any way.
It would be nice if we all just enjoyed our showing!!!
I for one will be supporting them

To pick up on th older Novice thing; what I don't like is to see ponies out year after year getting placed, but never the elusive red rosette, who are still doing Novice classes. Or the frantic changing of bridle between Open and Novice classes, because the pony is eligible for both. I know that nothing out with the rules is being done in either case, but I-myself-in-my-own-personal-opinion, think that it's not quite 'right'. It maybe doesn't happen at the really big shows, but it goes on all the time in my neck of the woods.

can anyone tell me if there is a website or a list of qualifiers for this show and where and when is the final.
so many Q and not enough time.
If people knock and organizations like this why should people give there time up for the few that spoil it for others.
