well isnt it funny how some people just never have anything positive to say!
As one of the 'organisers' - id like to set the record straight. The show was set up and run by only 4 of us, Ceri Fell, myself and Mr and Mrs Deller. 2 months ago there was no Towerlands welsh show at all, potentially another good show lost, due to changes at Towerlands they no longer wanted to run it themselves. The show is now independent of Towerlands and we are subject to the same hire charges of any other society. The name has had to remain 'Towerlands' Welsh Medal Show in order to retain the WPCS medals. It is only due to the dedication of Ceri that the show took place at all and was pulled together in a short space of time.
As anyone running a Welsh medal show will know, good entries are key to keeping the medal status, or indeed going for 'upgrade' in future. We all entered a few ponies to contribute to numbers but none were dead certs and I believe all the committee achieving nothing higher than a 3rd!
There is nothing in the rules at any shows preventing committee members taking part, it happens with many WPCS, NPS, NCPA, PUK, BSPS and county shows that I have been to and I believe that our entries were in the spirit of good sportsmanship, supporting the show purely for the reasons stated above.
I agree that it wasnt all perfect, the sound system was all over the place at times, the curtains wouldnt close... its called teething trouble, but we had lots of happy customers who agree that the atmosphere is what sets this show apart from all others.
Given that we had entries from Lancashire, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, and the South Coast, as well as the local area. I'd consider it a success.
We are always open to suggestions and ideas, and offers of help, perhaps Sparrow, you might want to offer your services next year or even just something a little more constructive than inaccurate remarks.
The show has already been booked for next year and it will be even bigger and better than this years!
