Is it worth getting the vet to look at her?

I agree get the vet to look at it if it doesn't look right. If your vet says there's nothing physically wrong, then try a hartwell mouthpiece, or I believe some of the neue schule bits are shaped similarly, with a large port to allow lots of room for the tongue.

neue schule bits are excellent i had loads of problems with my warmblood accepting the bit and getting his tongue over i rang the helpline and they were excellent i now have a snaffle and a double that my horse goes well in because they give his tongue loads of room you can try before you buy if you order from the bit bank which is better than having a tack room full of bits that are no good good luck
