My yearling came in from the field yesterday with a lump on rear of one foreleg . It was soft and appeared to 'track around leg', if you know what I mean! There was no lameness, no heat. I cold hosed him and today the swelling has reduced but there is still some there and it is definitely a vein that I can feel. I phoned the vet and she said if he wasn't lame he's probably knocked it and it should go down. He has a habit of putting his front legs thro the fence so I think he's hit it hard when he's pulled it back. I thought I'd seen most leg injuries (am an authority on splints unfortunately) but this is a new one on me! Would be grateful for anyone out there who's horse or pony has raised a leg vein after a knock and how it progressed. Thanks

Yes we have had this before with a point to pointer, he must have banged his tendon, he was never sore on it - fairly sure we just hosed it and it went down. Shouldnt be a problem

Maybe you should put boots on him to protect his legs.

Yes he is now but it's difficult to find ones small enough for his little legs! I've found the Close Contact Chaps from Equilibrium are perfect though and should help stop it happening again . Thanks for replies
