I'm suprised that no-one has had anything to say about conditions at Leicester Show last weekend. We were parked at least half a mile from the rings - which were in dreadful condtion. We were so far away that we could not hear any announcements so had to trail down to the ring very early and then stand around. There were no proper horse walks. There were always queues for the loo (suprising considering lots of people have them in lorries including us). The ring was right next to the fairground. Lorries with dogs in were being turned away and yet the general public were allowed to bring dogs........and son and so no. We won't be doing that show again!! Did everyone else think it was okay - or didn't you have a twnety minute walk to the ring?!!!

The previous leicester thread was removed following a discussion of a particular class, not the actual show itself No one mentioned the conditions 'Never again' - was this your first time at Leicester? As from what i've heard the past few years it is always like that, in fact i believe this year was better than most in that had the pleasure of walking 20minutes to your ring on grass as opposed to a peat bog

in fact i believe this year was better than most in that had the pleasure of walking 20minutes to your ring on grass as opposed to a peat bog well it wasn't that pleasent having to walk along an old runway that you were lucky if your pony made it to the ring sound.

We haven't been to Leicester for 3 years, when it was on the other site & it rained the night before. The ground was horrendous & we had finished by 10.30 & nobody could get in or out without been towed. It took us till 3pm to get towed out & everyone was so unhelpful so it's not surprising it hasn't improved. It seems to be the comittee running it haven't a clue!!We will never go again. Plenty of other good shows to go to a this time of year anyway.

We went and were parked quite close to the ring, had no problems getting lorry in even with dog, all people very helpful, but yes the ground conditions were not great, but have been on worse...

We didnt go this year, got fed up with waiting to be towed off each year at the last showground, thought we would give the new site a try last year and it was horrid, we did manage to get parked on the runway but the rings were like rutted fields and then we got blocked in for 3 hours so couldnt get home early as planned - I said never again. the one thing I remember was arriving at 7am after a 2 hour drive and not one refreshment van was open I could have killed for a cuppa they finally opened at 9

What were entries like on the whole? Did they reflect the bad conditions mentioned?

We were in 1/2/3yr old NF/Conn In-Hand 15 entered 12 forward so not too bad for us, all the M&M in-hand classes seemed well supported.

Jo Bates won the large riding horse and Gosh won the smalls. Not many riding horses forward and not the strongest classes we will see this season.
