Going off the subject slightly a judge said to my then 9 year old pony "you would have won but I think your pony is ugly?" Not much really you can say after that is there. It was the prettiest small Sec B you have ever seen which made it worse

My daughter when she started first started showing in the family pony. "I would have won if I hadn't fallen off, the judge gave me third anyway because the pony slowed down when I started falling and then waited for me to get up"

Well, apparently at one show, although I was on a novice but nice horse that went well and I was the only one in a showing class NOT wearing a jumping saddle and martingale or gob-strapping noseband, that according to the judge, even if there had been 10 in the class, I would still have been 3rd!!! ?

The worst one for me was being handed a 4th place rosette in an Olympia qualifier for B&C's when the "he who shall remain nameless" judge said "I don't like this bay mare, why didn't you bring the chestnut one, its much better....it would have won!"
Stupidly I replied...."Really, that would have been lovely......!" DOH!!!!!!!!!!!! ......especially since said chestnut mare was 9 months pregnant at the time.......

Our pony would have won......if we had actually gone to the show. Instead we chose to stay tucked up in bed. Had a lovely cooked breakfast then a nice long hack. Went to the pub for supper......heaven!!!! We were all winners that day!!!

I would have won if my pony had not of knocked the little jump that was painted the same colour of the grass at moreton in the marsh and would have qualified for hoys
i would have won if also there on another pony the next year if the judge had given me another 1/2 mark or 1 mark and would have qualified for hoys
i would have won if my pony had not of humped at cheshire county and qualified for hoys

My favourite is from my daughter...." I would have won, but I forgot to put my lucky knickers on"!!!! Of course, that would have made all the difference.

btw the "lucky knickers" are black with the word LUCKY emblazoned accross the rear in large red letters. Her usual show jods are fairly thick and I have never noticed that the knickers can be seen through them... However, at the champs she had to use a spare pair on around day 3...and these knickers (washed!!) could be clearly seen by anyone standing behind her as she jumped. On the flat they were not visible (unless you were giving her a leg up!!).
Were they lucky? Yes, she had a 3rd on one pony and a 2nd and 3rd on the other!!!

I would have won a lead rein one day but my tights fell down and tripped me up. The judge (man of course) did chat me up afterwards though - perhaps he thought other items of clothing came off easily (Definately not!!!).

I would have won but...we drove all the way to solihull a few years back for a hoys and got really excited as we pulled up as there was hardly anyone there! Then we noticed various ponies walking round that had particularly bad conformation and looked generally unprofessional-just as my mum was pointing this out saying, 'god, if no-one else turns up, this'll be a breeze'! (we thought all our luck had come at once!), then I noticed that all these ponies riders' were wearing black jackets etc-sure enough, we walked into the arena and there were show jumps up-we'd come a day late!!!! That'll teach us for being too c0cky!!!
