Hello, I am new to this forum and am looking for some advice.
I have arabs and have been into the arab show scene for a number of years, however, recently, because of the way things have gone with arab showing and breeding, I have had a change of heart and decided to change direction and get more into riding again and start to enjoy horses rather than throw money at my garden ornaments!
Anyway, I have a stallion and I am not sure what to do with him. He is a lovely boy and I really think he has the potential to do well in ridden disciplines (and I don't mean just ridden showing withing the Arabian community).
BUT - being into just arabs means I know nothing about the world outside of arabs!
I am under pressure from my husband to sell him, but I really think this would be a shame without at least trying to see if I can get a trainer for him, get him backed and maybe into some ridden competition (maybe dressage) but I am not sure how 'doable' this is in non arabian community! Are there trainers out there who like purebred arabs as potential sports horses, or am I barking up the wrong tree and should be looking at arab people only?
I would like to send him away to be broken by a knowledgeable and well recommended trainer and seek their advice on where to go with this, but I don't even know where/how to find one (I am in the South East) or even if I can afford it!
My other options are to sell or lease him, or to geld him, but that seems such a waste of a beautiful stallion who hasn't been given a chance yet, especially as I have been paying for him to be a livery for 2 years whilst I had babies, when I could have just gelded him and kept him at home for nothing!
I hope I make sense! Thanks
Michelle
