Considering going if our mini doesn't get her HOYS ticket at North Of England, best tip I can give you is make sure you keep every locked away- even daft stuff like lead reins, head collars. So many people get stuff stolen at this show unfortunately and last year I heard the evening performances got very rowdy (banging chairs instead of clapping) so I advice to make sure your horse/pony is okay with lots of racket! Have fun though and good luck, many people say it is a lovely show apart from the above! I'm not trying to put anyone off, just a warning

Thanks for your hints. Shame we can't trust people though!! I'll lock everything away thanks . The noise will just have to be something we work on x

Items have "walked" on showgrounds for many years but people still leave things outside stables and lorries, put it away and lock it up. Keep an eye on the stables, headcollars and ropes rugs and even ponies have been targeted in the past . Be vigillant and have a fantastic time there are so many champs to qualify for these days and they are all great fun. Good luck everyone.

I last went back in 2006 and on the last day our friends ponies had had there headcollars stolen, they were just plain nothing fancy ones. So they had no headcollars to travel back in, nightmare!

Have to agree with others, wasn't impressed last time I went two years ago. Was much better when it was a Peterborough IMO.
With regards to things walking.....................when I was there last I was sleeping in back of equitrek on a campbed while hubby and small child had bed in the living. I was woken up in the early hours by banging and rattling next to my tack locker. Bar stewards I thought, they are breaking into my stuff! So brandishing a very large torch I crept out of the back and went around the corner putting my torch on it and shouting what are you doing?!! It was a young couple BONKING against the side of my box. I was so shocked I shrieked, they shrieked. It was a rabbits in the headlights moment........... They sorted themselves out and shuffled off, very drunk and very embarrassed. I went back to bed and laughed until I nearly wet myself.
Seriously though, I had hay nicked that had just been delivered and a water bucket from the stable.

Now I'm wishing I hadn't just posted a fortune's worth of entries to them, does no-one have a positive thing to say?

I have to disagree with most of you!!!!We love the show from a whp point of view they have real good old fashioned courses that someone has put a lot of thought and effort into. They go the extra mile for providing courses that need jumping, far better than many shows.
We are in between selling our 13hh all qualified up and getting a 14hhwhp so have had to miss the entries closing date as we dont know what we will have. The show is still 6-7 weeks away so bit disappointed. Come on HGossipers, help me sell 13hh and find me an equally good 14hh!!!! Then I just might get some late entries in!

We have allways done PUK, not going this year but only because we have nothing to take. We have had a few bits pinched, but also have from bsps etc. We have allways gone in a gang, and had great fun with no problems at all, and have allways found showers etc to be as good as the others users have left them! We have mainly done WHP classes and have found the courses to be ok, but found the Colne final last year very small and disapointing for an final? Good luck to all going, really wish we could!

The show has a very good atmosphere. The evening performances are fun to go watch (if its not raining) and it is generaly a good show, I just personally find equifest better.

ive been every since since i was 8 and im now 25! have never had anything stolen and have only had trouble 1 year with noisy neighbours which was sorted out by security. Most people dont like puk bacause of the cost, yes its expensive but we enjoy it so to us its worth every penny, Go enjoy yourself and make up your own mind.

I am going and have done since being 12 and now I am 34... I agree it is expensive but we have a good time and the children love it and have made some good friends over the years. This year will be a little sad as it's my daughters last year on the lead rein but I have a new baby boy and hoping he will take up the reins!! Make sure you pack plenty of waterproofs... Go and Good Luck xxx

We went 2 years ago, for the first time. Luckily nothing taken. Stabbling was a total nightmare. When we arrived we were told we couldnt have access to our booked stables as people had not vacated their stables and people were putting padlocks on and not vacating! we couldnt access stables til the evening and were trying to juggle small ponies and small tired children. It was a total disgrace and nobody seem to give a monkeys.

Only for the HOYS, which I was staggered at how much it cost me to enter! Around £65!!! Much more than all the other HOYS Qualifiers!

I think people forget that its not just Puk where things get stolen, last year at bsps some one actually took a friend's horse from out of its stable, we sh11111t ourselves really panicked, really people are as bad anywhere you go, unfortunately and sadly a sign of the times..

I will be going with my two lead rein and first ridden ponies for the third year running, my children love it, and it is expensive but then what i save in diesel from equifest it is no different. Never had as problem with things been stolen or noise the show ground id clean and tidy as for the showers get up early have a shower when they are clean, what do people expect all those teenagers how many of them clean the shower out at home after they have been in it, take flip flops for the shower. The evening proformances last year were just as good s the year before don;t remember any feet banging. Have fun and enjoy your ponies thats what it is all about. x
