smart yet comfy ie trouser suit or skirt suit, comfy shoes (don't like seeing judges in high silietoe heels or trainers) covering clothes are best nothing worse than a judge showing leg or clevage off in the ring. at the end of the day shes best in what suits her but being with animals she needs practical yet being smart, first impressions count at the end of the day, oh and nothing blowie she wont want to hold her skirt day when the wind blows or catch her hat and the animals can get scared by it.
i know its her judges assessment but she needs to think like a judge now on the clothing but good luck with it

Right or wrong, and it is definitely wrong, I know of a lady who wasn't accepted after an assessent day because she wore trousers!!!

Sexist or not SHB(GB) do not allow their female judges to wear trousers whilst officiating. Sad but true.

Sexist or not SHB(GB) do not allow their female judges to wear trousers whilst officiating. Sad but true. Then someone should do something about it.....there can be no reason for having such a sexist rule IMO and makes that society sound as if it is stuck in the last century! Trousers are MUCH more practical IMO for stewarding and judging (although I have nothing against those who decide to wear a skirt or dress) - one gust of wind is all it takes for a lady to lose her modesty!

I have always understood that lady Judges should wear a skirt. If I am Judging at un-affiliated level, then I may wear smart trousers and comfy flat shoes, depending on the weather, but if I am STEWARDING at an Affiliated/County Show then I wear a skirt. From my own point of view, my legs look awful in a skirt and flat shoes so I wear quite a long skirt!!!!
PS. Hi, Roxy!!!!!

I have always understood that lady Judges should wear a skirt. Why? There is absolutely no reason IMO why a lady should have to wear a skirt unless that's what she chooses to wear. However pedantic, such a rule is discrimination and has no place in society today. PUK changed its rules on dress code a couple of years ago to say females could wear smart trousers or trouser suits. I'm glad I'm not involved with any societies that dictate to me what I should wear. I'm not saying I wouldn't wear a skirt, just that it should be my own personal choice.

What are the general guidelines on stewards, as you seem to see some in all sorts of get ups. Is it still correct to wear a suit with a skirt?

i was told on my judges assesment day that trousers or skirts were equally acceptable and it was entirely our own choice. this day was run by the top people, two of whom i have seen wear trousers. i tend to wear trousers in the winter and skirts in the summer.
