Ok for those who keep asking and PMing
2lb of blue clay (fullers earth) 4 tablespoons of methylated spirits 4 tablespoons of vinegar (white is best) 1 tablespoon of glycerine
mix with water untill a thick paste, put on the hock, and leave, if it comes of put more on. Swelling will come down within 10 days but, it is only really efective on freshly capped hocks. It works well on wind galls, put it on for three days before a show and they go down completely.
Have a few more recipies but boy are some frightening, home made wormers from 60 years ago are not for the faint hearted!!

Our cob used to lean on the lorry or trailer ramp and cap his on the way to shows. Thick bandage liners & Hock boots help but don't cure! We used to take blue ice gel and a rechargeable massager with us everywhere. Together they worked a treat. The most annoying things are the judges who acuse you of not putting down enough bed. Hers were as deep as they come.
