As nobody has answered this question, does that mean that no-one is traveling North this weekend. That will hopefully mean that there will be Scots in the qualifying places!

I have heard that the some fab Scottish combinations have been training and waiting for this show to qualify. It will be a very tough class with a high standard from not far away........

I'm surprised anyone wants to go to the NPS show! This show has been going down hill for years and is nothing like it used to be at alloa or kinross. The schedules were very late out and who decided to have the closing date on a sunday? Ive heard that the entries that arrived on the monday have been sent back, so these people will have to pay 50% extra if they decide to enter on the day. The buisness of the olympia being null and void last year was the laughing stock of the horse world - lets hope nothing happens like this again.

I'll be there bright and early on Saturday to watch! Hopefully it'll be lovely weather and I can sit by the ringside turning a delicate shade of lobster red Good luck to everyone taking ponies (and congratulations for finding your way through the schedule; that deserves a rosette itself!) Fingers crossed a Scottish pony will take the Olympia ticket this year. The judge is Jerome Harforth, I think. Who is the "certain pony with a different jockey"

obi, what a load of rubbish. The NPS at Strathallan is a fab show. Hundreds of classes, so everybody has several to do. The showground at Alloa was far too small even in those days when there were much fewer big boxes, and so was Kinross.
There are lots of lovely Scottish ponies so good luck to them all, and to the English one's too. It's nice too see different ponies especially the show ponies as we have so few up here now.
Hope everybody has a good day. Bring the sunscreen and the midge cream too!!

Sorry mac, I think the show now has no atmosphere - the entries have really gone down, especially the in-handers! Very few people stay to watch the sumpreme - even the secretary has gone home by then!!!!!

I agree with mac! The setting at Strathallan is lovely and the rings are huge! Plus there is plenty of room to work in, unlike Alloa and Kinross! I always seem to remember the weather being miserable at Alloa and that always puts me off a venue, being a fair weather rider

Not interested in who is going, who is riding what, which one is lame, which one is up to standard, which one really should of won or even the judges mothers third cousin twelve times removed once said hello to the uncle of an exhibitor while stood in line at the battle of cullodden. Because all the above is totally immaterial if N P S members do not carry the correct cards in able to qualify in the relevant class.
Please remember to read the rules if you dont have a copy still, ask someone that does It is equally distressing to the judges concerned to have to take qualifications away and a confrontation that . with a little thought on part of exhibitors, could easily be avoided.
So CARDS IN POCKETS PLEASE Thank you

I have fantastic memories of Alloa back in 1992 we made the long journey to Scotland we won and qualified HOYS with our 12-2 sp we also got a big trophy, then a few years later this time producing our ponies from home we won and qualified HOYS with our small SRT the first time we ever qualified HOYS as a home produced family both times it was well worth our 5 hr journey each way and that show holds precious memories for us i for 1 was sad when it moved venues.

We also qualified for HOYS for the first time in Scotland many, many moons ago, the journey took us 10 hours (which felt more like 10 days), we didn't know who the judge was, and if I'd known then what I know now I would not of gone 10 miles to go under this same judge! But hey it was all ok that day So I give Scotland a big thumbs up

The nearest town is Auchterarder. I'm sure if you ring the tourist board they can find you a B&B there if Gleneagles is full!
So come on then. Who is coming up ? Spill the beans. Want to know if all us Scots should just forget it and get stuck into the booze at 9am instead of waiting for a more civilised time (like 10.30!)

hmmm Mara that sounds like an Irish name to me! Perhaps people will even come across the sea! Would be good if it had the atmosphere it used to have in days of old, when the standard seemed so much higher and classes were full. Too much choice now, and not always reliable judges - but may be OK this year?! I agree probs with the entries were we supposed to visit the secretary on Sunday - perhaps we were invited to lunch but fogot to tell us, a bit like the schedule. Special prize for the most confused so misses the most classes maybe Good luck to everyone hope the weathers kind and the midges stay at home.

I'll predict Trowan Moulin for the Olympia (if he's entered)......and his rider should get to the ring at the right time as it's the first class!!!!

LOL, should have learned their lesson after Blair And what lesson would that be exactly? My understanding from last year's Blair is that there was more than one person who missed a qualifier or final due to lack of tannoy or confusion within the ring itself. Of course it must be easy to be in several different places at once if you've got a dozen clingons to fetch & carry for you/act as messenger boy.

To keep an eye on proceedings We had just one pony, one rider and made it on time! Remember Scottish schools are back by then so clingons were back only one was allowed day off and that was the rider.

Don't want to spoil their luck by saying this but I agree Moulin is in with a shout. A very nice, typey, good-going highland. However there are plenty of fab ponies still to qualify. Could be a connie. (or a welsh, a dartmoor, a NF, an exmoor ...............etc!!) One thing for sure, it won't be one of mine!
