any info or help gratefully received as I'm at the end of my tether...
i have a 2yr old entire male pug and a 6 yr old dogue de bordeux.... basically every time my pug gets the chance he's constantly licking my other dogs pads on his feet or his ears.... i know my dogue is an old man now because his breed only have a life span of 7yrs, Ive had dogs all my life but never seen any dog do this before, its very annoying and my other dog growls at the pug when he's doing it but he has little dog syndrome...... any help please

Perhaps try to distract pug with toys etc to stop him annoying the poor boy. If not try castration and shock aversion noises everytime you catch him doing it.
Has it been going on since he was a pup? x

we only got him 2 days before his 1st birthday so i wouldnt know about it going on since he was a pup..... do you think castration would work, also would this stop his marking his scent, he doesnt do it often but i have caught him and when hes told off he starts growling at me ... i know he wouldnt bite me but im 17wks pregnant and my mum is worried he'll bite the baby because the baby will be on his level..... i love this little man but not enough to risk my new baby..... i would do anything to stop him so i can keep him....
thanks babe fro your reply

Right I would castrate him now; no question. Growling is unacceptable regardless of whether he will bite or not, i'm sorry to say but you can never be sure whether he will or not and with a baby on the way he needs to know were he stands. It will defanitely stop him marking his scent.
I would also start accostomizing him to crying baby noises as well to see how he reacts; start using a crying doll - you can get them in Toys R Us, you will be suprised how a dog reacts. Some don't like the noise, my friend had to make the heart breaking decision to rehome her dog because he became so stressed when she tried to accostomize him to the noise of the baby.

It sounds line typical submissive behaviour. Grooming the dominant dog. Our young cocker (9mth) is constantly trying to pacify one o our chihuahuas by cleaning/licking her eyes and ears to her disgust which she vocalises loudly ... Our cocker however tends to ignore until she is really told of. It doesnt sound like he is being at all aggressive just trying to please. I would sit back and watch. Don't panic pugs are so attentive and very needy. Besides no child should be left with a dog, as no matter how wonderful. Kids have to learn respect and boundaries. A grow really is just ..... please leave me alone! A warning x

I would never accept a growl of my dog towards me, but I guess that is personal opinon.
