not being funny here right BUT the phrase let it lie ... springs to mind, why re stoke a fire that will just be removed anyway  ?? I like public forums but when they turn into attacks of mods and individuals they need removing, poeple that use the forums not for the greater good, such as spreading knowlege and news, will be sad if they get shut down for letting people slander others or hint at slander, be fair folks !!!! |

The thread was removed because of a request by a member, as is our policy. Not because of a challenge to the mods. However, some people will always judge us by the behaviour of mods on other forums, which is a shame as we welcome all views on HorseGossip. Within the rules of course.
Giddie, I would have thought you would be able to put yourself in the mod's position.

A ban will be issued to a specific IP address and will then cover all guest and registered names used by that person. However, this seems to be one of those arguments that just keeps coming back. If new postings are from a new IP address and a different computer, we can't stop it. |

These wierdo's IP numbers are logged on registering and should be passed to the police... ? This sort of behaviour is vile. The only way that IP addresses can be disclosed is if required by a court of law. There is no other way that we can pass on anyone's details. And with respect, how are we expected to know when a new member registers, whether they are a 'wierdo'?? We can only go by what is said on here, we are not privy to the ins and outs of any given situation. In most cases, there are people with very strong opinions on both sides of the argument, who will all tell you their version of events is gospel! |

Right - this is what I said on the other thread:
"Do not make assumptions about the reasons for deleting certain posts. Our policy is to delete any post at the request of a member. If you would like to become a member of the site (that's if you are not already) you would be given the same priveliges. "
So what I said was, don't assume what our reasons are for deleting. Didn't say anything about it being innocent. Sorry, I'm not sure what you're trying to say?

Just as the above says this thread was started and was nothing to do with the earlier thread, I have never made any assumptions for deleting certain post and believe that it is right if the person being attacked should request that you remove it then it should be removed. But don't assume that there is something cynical going on when it isn't. If l want to be cryptic in my posts when talking to my friends then surely that is not hurting you or any one.
Yes will very happily de-register, but what l will say is surely all these people that come on here and say you happily dish it out but haven't got the b---s to take it and when they say all the time people are talking positive about you, your friends and their ponies your happy however with the slightest bit of negativity you are like children and start to throw your toys out of the pram. I ask is everyone of them wrong ??.
With the exception of Milliesmum, it is my opinion that the majority of moderators on here always present as so d**n precious and seem to think they are better than everyone else. The site as a whole tends to reveal in the powers it has over people.
I am now sure that this threat will be deleted but that is fine, but that just highlights how you fail to use critisism positively.

I am not entirely sure passing things like this to the police will help, they are unable to prevent knife crime and innocent people being murdered and children being abused, not sure that they will be interested in a load of people airing their views, after all the web site is called HORSE GOSSIP, thats just what people are doing. I am sure the moderators are obliged to delete threads when they are requested to, as members we all have the right to have things taken off if we feel they are personal....

Giddie I don’t have a problem with you posting on the site. You seem to get very uptight though when a post is removed and then start to jump to conclusions as to why they were removed in the first place, along with questioning the reasoning behind the removal. Then when some one replies with a reason (which really they don’t have to) you won’t you accept that or let it drop. It just seems as if you are on a crusade. Heavens knows why  |

Again Admin l am sorry but l do have to take issue, l never questioned the removal of that thread, l questioned the response, which unfortaunately was critical in itself. I am certainly not on a crusade and have never had any intentions of being on one . However l am pleased to know that you are happy for me to continue posting.

But judging by the posts and tone of threads that I have read in the past on this matter, some of the content has been of a slanderous nature. Continued slanderous posting amounts to harassment, something the police do take very seriously !! I suggest that if this person STILL feels so aggrieved they should take their complaints to the relevant Societies, rather than flinging mud on a public forum and then attacking the Admin/Mods when the threads are deleted at the request of the victim. And for those who may doubt the seriousness of harassment, you only have to google it !! |

Well if we see something that is directly slanderous, i.e. mentioning names or specifics, that is against the rules of the site and will be removed immediately it comes to our attention. The trouble is, they are often cleverly worded to avoid naming anyone, and sometimes not immediately obvious who or what is being targeted. In those cases, we have to wait for someone in the know to enlighten us and request its removal.
If the people involved were to pursue the offenders through the courts, we would of course co-operate fully. But you have to understand that when we receive a message asking for an IP address, it could be from anyone wanting those details for any purpose. So unless requested by a court we are not able to disclose details.

Meteoric you are dead right but in the original post of this, no names whatsoever was mentioned and just a mere question was asked..If we are totally honest about this it somehow got blown out of proportion when comments were made about the responses to that post which had a sarcastic nature. However l don't want to keep reliving the whole scenario, as l just get told that l "get very uptight, start to jump to conclusions and that l am on a crusade"..Come on that is not slanderous, just me pointing out that it can't be all one way traffic..and what l mean by that before l am accused of talking in riddles again is that it seems ok for the people who run this site to say what they want and talk to people in a manner thats somewhat degrading by using sarcasim but anyone else is not allowed an opinion.
I am sorry if you think l am going on about it but we as users of this site have a right also to make sure that these facts are properly represented, and not just done in part.

What l will say and this will be my final word, is that as no names were mentioned in the original post it is an assumption on who this person was talking about, and you yourself are making assumptions because you only think you know who Pippapro was taking about. Agree it does get tedious but l do like to see fair play lol.
