I was enjoying reading the thread about HOYS M & M predictions when I found it had been locked (and rightly so) because of personal comments made. Please folks (and why are they nearly always nameless?) stop doing this! It is neither necessary nor fair and spoils the enjoyment that the rest of us get from the various threads on HG. The phrase 'don't wash your dirty linen public' springs to mind. Moan over!!

Probably because that doesn't stop them and they put on a rush to argue double time before a mod deletes the post and it is in the middle of the night and the mods have to get some sleep and then get up and do their day job. So best to lock it or you get people complaining it was allowed to carry on. They don't usually mind if you start another thread on the same subject. |

Sometimes if we're on a flying visit we lock because it's quicker than editing the thread. If guest postings are a problem, why not start another thread in a members only area?  |

Please don't shoot me down here but the guests area seems to be used more as a means to post nasty comments anonymously and hide behind it rather than for geniune guests. Then the slanging matches begin and it all turns nasty/personal quite quickly!
Whilst everyone is entitled to an opinion, this is a forum after all, why does it have to become so personal?

Yes I think the nasty comments are guests not prepared to put their user names so they know very well what they are saying is out of order. I am afraid I have no respect for people who are spineless like that.

I can think of one reason - some regular posters have posted under a 'guest name' when it was very personal problem on which they needed advice and didn't want to be identified at that stage.
