Sorry didn't read this properly but my TB is currently a SHGB graded broodmare. If she were sound she would have made a great dr/sj...she is definately not mad and I am not brave enough to event. She has a knee injury which would put her out of showing but a very diverse mare for other disciplines. We hunted/sj'd and could have done low level dressage before I decided that she had had enough competing and now looks better as a mummy (she enjoys eating for two...) Good luck with your diploma x

I haven't voted as I think they are fantastic alrounders! For example my boy has shown and won at county level, field mastered out hunting, done dressage, show jumping and cross country, been a trainer's hack and been a generally great boy to have around!

Tbh, it's like all horses (& humans!) they're all better at different things!! But I think Showing is good for them, & if they enjoy jumping, then show jumping. Many showing horses do dressage, so not sure why a pony that excels at showing shouldn't be able to do some basic un-affiliated dressage!

Dressage....I know one who is competing at affiliated Novice, doing dressage to music this Tuesday! He also shows, and will be doing county next year! I know another as well that does dressage, show jumping, xc and showing! oh and another one who does dressage, xc and sj and general hacking! An ex racer is more then capable of doing anything! It might take time, but they'll get there!

My friend has 2 ex-racers and they do a variety of activities including hacking, showing, showjumping, pleasure rides and cross country. I think they make great allrounders.

It all depends upon the horse. I had one who would do anything except face cars on a road, otherwise he was good as gold, but obviously a hairy ride out.
Now I have the biggest kids pony in the world who was an ex'chaser, he is 17.2 and I think would tackle anything.
Best of luck

Anything that provides them with a happy life, but I do like to see them in the show ring. However I used to have an ex-racehorse that I only hacked about. He wasn't cut out for anything else but he was a great hack!
