Was anyone else dissapointed with the coverage of hoys on sky sports?
I recorded all of them thinking I could catch up with all the things I couldn't see as I only went Thursday.
The showing classes must have had all of 10 minutes coverage over the 3 or 4 programmes that I watched. All it covers is Showjumping!!
I like watching showjumping and the puissance was great but for the amount of classes that go on at hoys I thought that they would have shown a bit more variety!
Anyone else agree or do you tthink it was alright? I just think it was a shame.

Its always about the Showjumping.
I wouldnt want to watch loads of the showing but having a bit more to watch like all The championships, the Cuddy etc would be nice..
Not sure what was shown this year but i rember last time the commentator was talking and I could see the Cuddy in the backgroud, it drove me mad I wanted her to move out of the way haha!

I know that someone saw Clancy on Sky last night doing the Supreme - but not sure whether that was in the backgroundwhilst they were interviewing and important show jumper or whether they actually showed some of the supreme - anyone know?

00rebel99 - whilst I too like to watch (some) showing classes, this would hardly appeal to the wider audience and certainly not "translate" to tv well. However, with the superb commentary and filming (from fab angles with plenty of replays) the Sky Sports coverage of the showjumping was excellent and gripping IMO.

I have to agree.
The amount of time Sky spend showing slow mo close ups of riders faces and hooves soaring over fences is ridiculous. Absolutely show highlights of SJ classes that were on during the day, but we don't need to relive the previous evenings action in slow motion for the second time at 6 different angles. Their PC coverage is good, but this year we got to see ONE scurry round (everyone loves scurry!) and barely any Pony Showjumping.
I agree showing isn't thrilling to an outsider, but let's face it, very very few of those watching HOYS night after night will be people with no equestrian experience. Which horsey person WOULDN'T like to see little Harriet Dennison flying out the arena, or some exciting WHP/WH rounds or the highlights of the Cuddy? 10 minutes showing each days showing champions would surely be ok - for show riders, HOYS is a dream come true, but many showjumpers couldn't look less excited about being there. Round after round, followed by slow mo of eyes and hooves is BORING!

I cant stand pony club games. Never liked it never will. I am always frustrated over the coverage the games get each night compared to the showing - given that the Caldene is on the go all day every day - which must say something about its popularity. And if anyone wants an example of rider flapping legs its the games. Hideous.

Last night it just showed who had won horse of the year and pony of the year. Didn't show a lap of honour or all the others! Nothing just a quick few seconds while they were getting pics taken. Also showed about 5 seconds of the overall shire horse champion.
I like the showjumping but really for 3 hours coverage a night they could have shown a tiny bit more showing, just the championships and a bit of workers! Plus they only covered from the Thursday, stating on the info bar on sky that that was the first day! Hmmmmm? Did I dream being there on Wednesday and also it now starts on a Tuesday? Some coverage of the indoor eventing would have been great too!
Think I'll just cancel the sky sports subscription and save th money to go for the whole week to hoys next year then I won't miss anything lol :-)

I think they generally do a great job - far better than the BBC, which farnkly should cover more of this kind of thing, as it is funded by taxpayers!
It's a pity they don't do some of the showing champs - perhaps we could all write in and at least suggest highlights, or perhaps covering the Cuddy working hunter?
