Would take £2000 plus vat for quick sale as totally wasted Total bargain!!!!!!!!!!!1 You cannot charge VAT unless you are VAT registered. Companies that charge VAT do have to pay it to the inland revenue.

I'm also going to assume that you aren't able to provide somebody with a VAT receipt........

Why do you assume they can't provide a vat receipt, surely if the horse is advertised plus vat the seller is vat registered

Ok, so being a business doesn't make you VAT registered. Selling a horse is not the type of business that would require to be VAT registered either.

I'm not trying to be an arse here but it's not upto the buyer to pay the VAT so can't you just add it on to the price and advertise at that. Anyway good luck in selling

Anyway good luck in selling of course its up to the buyer to pay the vat! If you are vat registered you have to sell with vat added to the price. Erin i really dont see what your problem is???

Interesting how the other person who made comments about you charging VAT has since deleted their posts.................. Look I'm sorry for my comments ( I also think they may be read not quite how I ment it) I was always under the impression that horses were zero VAT unless being sold for meat, and that only the business was required to pay VAT on the proceeds of sale. So I am sorry (it wasn't just me that made a comment tho everybody ) and I hope you find the perfect home for your horse.

yes Erin it was me that made the comment about VAT, but having asked my husband who is an accountant about it, he said they are under certain circumstances.........if I remember correctly what I said was I didn't realise VAT could be charged on livestock.....that is why I deleted my post as what I had stated was incorrect. I never asked if she could supply a VAT receipt etc I also pm'd kelly1984 and apologised for my incorrect post and opening up a can of worms on her for sale advert. Now we have established that VAT can be charged and why it is stated in the price can we let it drop and wish her a successful sale
