Haven't ever used Parelli, & there has been a lot of bad press about it.

Orignially when it first started some things made sense, but it has just been used as a money making scheme now... Much prefer IH.

I haven't voted as none of the options explain what I think. I think a lot of the basic principles are very sound, but that they are also just old fashioned common sense re-presented (nothing wrong with that, there can never be too much common sense about). However, I think the way it is marketed encourages people to try to move too quickly to a place that they do not necessarily have the skills to be, and can therefore be a recipe for disaster. Mixed feelings.

basically some of the ideas are OK in theory but it is too commercialised and bordering on the gimmicky/circus tricks. Linda needs to go back to basics and forget the show biz

ive done alot of monty robberts and other methods but i find parelli is the best, i worked with a tb who would knock you over rear etc and he wouldnt let the farrier near him but when i did parelli with him he completely changed and he didnt need a tranqualizer anymore for the farrier hardly but he gave him a tiny one for safety lol

a woman on my old yard did "parelli". It consisted of chasing the pony round the school with a carrot stick until it could barley stand up, then standing a pony on a pallet for hours, and I mean "hours" while she threw a giant red ball at it ! How the pony didnt go through the pallet and break a leg I'll never know. Then she would hose it down from head to toe with freezing cold water, tie it up on the yard for a futher 3 hours and leave it to "think" about what he had done, while she when home and did what ever it was she needed to do. Im sure some people will say this is not true Parelli, but this woman claimed to be trained to the highest level in it. And this is my only dealings with it . I was not at all impressed by it. I as you can imagine will stick to the old fashioned , gaining my horses trust and treating him with respect. Not turnng him in to a Billy Smarts side show.

From what I've seen of 'Parelli,' I wouldn't touch it with a very long barge pole... However, I think lots of Monty Roberts/IH techniques are sound and very useful if employed correctly by knowledgeable persons.

In my opinion, Parelli is awful. I really don't like it, but Monty Roberts on the other hand is a true horseman. I was sat at my computer, open mouthed, at this video... www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gf7w_1ifus

someone on the yard im on does it and it consists of them whipping the horse with the carrot stick, chasing it round the school whipping it [carrot stick] or the floor spooking everything else on the yard with the noise.the horse has zero manners and drags them everywhere, flapping your hand in a ponies face for it to back up,if that fails tapping it quite hard on its head with the handle of the carrot stick.im sorry but this to me is a total joke and there horses do not look happy.you work with your horse not against it like they do.

I've seen good and bad practice in many of the the so called 'Natural Horsemanship' methods. I don't like 'gimmicks' and am suspicious of any methods that employ the need for expensive tack and videos. I prefer to use common sense, kindness and above all patience when dealing with my horses.

I was sat at my computer, open mouthed, at this video... www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gf7w_1ifusPure disgusting I watched something on H&C, & this boy wanted his SJer to trust him. All Pat told him to do was kept pulling the rope, letting go, & by the end of it the horse looked no different - apart from looking confused & being exhausted. It seems so false & 'forceful' rather than natural. Monty Roberts is amazing - watched IH on H&C too & wow what a difference. No big NEC stage, audiences, or rip off DVDs - just him & the horse. No stupid big balls, or sticks, just him riding & handling a horse - NATURALLY.
