Does anyone know of any stockists of wide girths? The non dressage kind that will fit on a GP or show saddle please. I have a sensitive new pony who needs the pressure spread on a wider area than my current (fairly wide IMO) girths are spreading it (they are also elasticated on both ends).
I have tried both my local tack shops. At the first shop the girl said - yeah we do them up to a 54", to which I replied that's the length, not the width (trying not to make this sound like an innuendo). At the second shop I was politely told that if there were non on display then they didn't have them.
I've also had a look online at a few places and can't seem to find anything.
All help gratefully received.
Mods sorry if this should be in tack wanted - I am looking for suppliers rather than a specific item so I thought best to try here first.
Thanks

The wintec cob girth is wide and elasticated all the way through as opposed to just at ends. I have found these fab!

I find the Stubben cord girths really good on sensitive horses. Have one on a showing saddle at the moment and the little mare is very happy with it. You can get them mail order if they are not available locally.

Get a Stubben trevira cord girth - they are excellent! Throstle Nest saddlery has them and will post them out, but lots of places have them
I personally would avoid elasticated firths on sensitive horses, they can find them "twangy" and it's easy to overtighten them

Hi,
Amanda Wilson from Thorn Saddlery makes made to measure, wide girths to even the weight of the saddle on the tummy. I would recommend them, I use them on all my ponies, it worked with my ultra sensitive mare!

I also have a stubben cord girth, really good and helps to stop my saddle from slipping

try a three fold leather girth, the ones made for side saddle as they are really wide
