Find county & BSPS area shows do seem to have good value for money, as is unaffiliated, but the RIHS, HOYS & Summer Champs are pretty expensive. At the RIHS this year, think it was £45 a class, which is pretty expensive with stabling, etc. But then HOYS is £90 a class now I think!

I don't mind. There is everything to take into account, personnel, advertising, electrics and so on and with the likes of HOYS it's also a business. I don't imagine the venue is cheap to rent! It would be great if all was free but what could they offer everything cost money sadly nothing in life is for free and after all is our choice to go to the events. Don't imagine most break even.

Venue Insurance First Aid Judges Fees Hospitality (Judges food) Jump Hire Course Builders Prize Money (Where App) Rosettes Trophys - Trophy Maintence Sashes Printing Postage Stationary Computer Costs (Minimal in my case as OH Does It) Marquee / Tent Hire Running Repairs to Equipment - Updating Equipment PA System Electric Supply (Generator costs) Advertising
Thats all i can think of at the mo, one show i run is a charity show costs around £4000 a year to run. the county show substantially more but i dont know the exact figures for that one but know its extensive.
Average Venue Hire is between £1000 - £1700 depending on facilities and extras

Entry fees are ridiculous, fair enough they have fees to pay too but with the amount of competitors at county and championship shows they could charge a little less! The stables at HOYS and summer champs were wet and the sponsors stables at bsps were flooded, when we pay all this money the standards should be higher, however bsps handled it very well and funded the shavings for the end of the week!

Looked into cost of hiring stable blocks for competitors, but Ludicrously expensive, so i look at stabling costs at shows and dont think they are bad compared to the hiring rate of them, I dont like the idea of stabling away from home, but belive me if you think shows make lots of money i beg to differ, with people wanting high standards of things, and we strive to improve a little at a time, there is not much left in the pot so to speak .......
