Fleur, went on loan in november 2008 as a companion/broadmare, and after a few months the lady was uncontactable. Im desperate for any information on her whearabouts and if she is ok. I thought I'd found a home for life for her as I couldnt afford her anymore. She is Dark Brown/Black, 16hh, Mare, Thoroughbred x. 17 years old now. I guarantee she would have had several problems with her if she was sold on without consent. She had a cracked tooth, enlarged throat which was endoscoped and found that she had a fixed airway on one side. At the time she was slightly lame. She was prone to loose stools due to hayledge and rich grass. The lady who took her said she was from the essex/ipswich area, and said I could visit her anytime. She picked her up in a light blue lorry and thats as much as I know as all other details have been lost with several moves, and the details she gave me did not match an address she gave me!!!! I believe the lady has changed my horses name and issued her a new passport as her one is still registered to my mum. Thankyou for taking the time to read this, I miss Fleur so much xxxx

Do you have a name for this lady? Have you reported it to the police? Do you have the lorry reg.?
You loaned her in 2008? To an unchecked & uninspected address? And haven't checked since? I hate to say it, but I feel this is too little too late.

I dont think you need to be so blunt, everyday since fleur has gone I have dreamnt about her, had nightmares about it, and cryed for her! She was the first and only horse I owned and had eight wonderful years. So I also had never loaned a horse before, so in my niave little brain I thought that if she was going to a permanent loan home, I thought I didnt have anymore say in how she was being looked after, id lost her. When fleur went I couldn't afford a roof over my head, I couldnt share or loan fleur as she went lame and the vets refused to look at her as I had an outstanding bill. Also the retirement charities I spoke to said they couldn't take her until her lameness had been sorted. I was all on my own with no-one to help or talk to! So my main proirity was to find someone who would take her and look after for life ( I made that very clear). I did try to phone the lady after a few months and the number didn't work, it was just after christmas so I thought she might have a new number. I waited for a phone call that never came. I phoned the passport agency a year later and pleaded them to make contact with the lady to ask her to contact me, again I waited. I also phoned the police and they said it was a civil matter and there was nothing they could do! It was only after I asked the passport agency to write another letter that they told me she was still registered to her original owners which was me! So yes it probably is too late but this is all can do now, if only I did things differently, if only I knew what I know now, if only I listened to my gut instinct! So please, before you judge me understand this, I will never put myself or another animal in the same situation ever again, I will will regret and live with this for the rest of my life

So sorry to hear about your Horse !! - I have loaned a out 3 or 4 times and always gone and checked the place - and the people out thoroughly, also signed the BHS loan agreement forms loaned 2 out when my father died. 25yrs ago, and those 2 people are now 2 of my best friends. -- in fact they turned out to be wonderful people, -- so it can work, -- but in your case it didn't - unfortunately the internet is a mine field of disasters. Cyber space is invisible. - I advertised mine in the Farmers Guardian, so therefore got people within a 2 hour drive of my home, so could check them out anytime. -- such a shame. -- hope you find her, poor girl.
