We have a yard with no mains electric run everything off leisure batteries so are thinking of fetching the livery man harmony cordless clippers tomorrow to clip all the ponies . Has anyone used these and are they good enough to do a full clip the biggest pony we have is 14.2 . Or can any one recommend good cordles clippers ?

Not tried them, but I have a set of Heiniger ones (http://www.heiniger.co.uk/heiniger_cordless_clipper.html) which I really like. I normally have to recharge the battery once whilst clipping my 15hh cob (full clip) but other than the fact that they only have an hour of battery life, they're as good as any mains clippers. Am considering getting a spare battery though which would mean I could have on charging whilst I used the other.

Hi, I have Liveryman Harmony and have used to clip Shetland and an A, worked fine although my shetland soon blunted the blades, however he was very, very hairy. You could have stuffed a duvet with what came off him ;D They are quite and light and easy to use, battery keeps its charge well. Excellent for doing jawlines and ears with the little narrow blades on.

my Harmony clippers are great with the Welshie and part bred, but do struggle with the Shetlands. I've managed 2 full clips on one charge with decent blades. I do now have a set of big clippers, which I run of the genny. They are a lot more powerful and cope with native winter woollies very well. I still use the Harmony clippers for faces, other fiddly bits and touch ups, as they're so simple to deal with.
