Just wondered how good comfort headpeices and pads are? In my work, I find tons of tension in the area behind the ear and on my horses too. I was going to order one, but most of them come already on the bridle I could buy a prolite one, but I have a spare prolite girth sleeve, which I could cut up - if its just padding they need? What do you all use and with what result?

I have an elevator bridle which we use on sensitive horses - the padding is of course part of the bridle, but the headpiece also allows for the noseband strap to run over the top, rather than sit under and hence against the poll
Hard to say how much difference it makes, tbh, but I can certainly see the sense in not having a thinner strap pressing down beneath the headpiece (I worry about this in the double bridle)

Well I am going to do an experiment on my own horses. I will make sure they are freed up in the ear and poll area and then I am making my own prolite pads. I will see if it makes a difference?
Both the headpiece and noseband will be able to go through, so it should give maximum comfort.
I love the passier leather ones, but I dont want to buy one, if it doesnt work!

I too have an elevator bridle. My horse goes very well in it, and it's a lovely bridle. He has unfortunatly snapped the head piece, managed to get his rein stuck inbetween the door and the door frame, whilst I had my head under the saddle flap doing his girth... I can't afford to replace it right now, it's half the price of the entire bridle for just the headpiece! I'm on the look out for another brand one, for the time being. The current one is still usable, but the whole bridle has to be slighty wonky, which means the shaped head piece sits wrong. I don't whether it does anything, I daren't change back in case I upset him So I'd be ver interested hear what your findings are LP ;D X

I bought just the seperate head piece that you can put on your existing bridle. My silly old horse obviously didn't appreciate the comfort and went worse in it so i took it back off again. If you would like it for 310 including postage let me know and i'll search it out. It is havanna Leather.
