We're in Rawtenstall, Lancashire. Novice at the min thats why I could do with a more experienced smaller rider to bring him on as i'm 5"4 myself. He's 5 years old, not reg but would do well as shows potential for other not reg shows. Fantastic paces! I shall get a picture of his trot and possile canter late on today.

Did you get any pics?
I am a little too far away to come but can meet at shows?
Which shows are you doing, I might be able to meet you there?

Hi Is he an Exmoor? If so he will need to be registered to go to any shows at all even a lot of clubs insist they are registered. He looks too native to be SHP so really needs to be registered to progress. Does he have a brand at all?

Pity he has no brand. If he is not branded he can never be registered. I think thats how it works, someone will be along soon to tell you if Im wrong but I dont think I am. He could still do unreg M&M classes though.

I think you right about the brand thing because they always brand them and then register them when they are foal in the wild.

Exmoors no longer have to be branded, they may now have a microchip as proof of registration. Many owners are now going down that route, especially if their herd number has several digits in it, as they feel it is distressing for the foal on branding.

Preferred height range for Exmoor stallions/geldings is 11.3 - 12.3hh therefore at 10.3hh is quite a bit under, he may have failed his foal inspection if he was considered too small or it could be perhaps that he is not pure bred as I believe foals who are put forward but fail inspection are put on a different register and are given a blue passport?
