I've been banging on about the new show I am running and asking you all various questions. I was going to call it "the Northern Quarter" but some people think that's gives the impression it might be for quarter horses. Do I need a new name? The schedule is on "chat about shows" with some of the details. What do you think? Do I need a new name? Can you think of something suitable and catchy??

What about the Northern Quarter Championship Show? It gets rid of the 'quarter horse' confusion Or even the Northern Quarter Winter Championship (if you were planning on holding a show in summer).

'The Northern Quarter Spring Show'? As EP said that would get rid of the quarter horse confusion & then people know it'd held in the spring (end of April isn't it?).

Yes. They are all good ideas. I am thinking of taking our northern "bling" show down south and maybe doing a "souterh quarter " show aswell. I need to check it out but I have friends who complain they don't have an equvilant. So just a bit of word play then?

Sorry 'Northern Quarter' means nothing to me. Is ' Northern Quarter' a place, a breed, a time of year? I think when you choose a name it must be a bit discriptive to those who may not of heard of you before, like East Anglian Native Pony Show, exactly what it says in the name.

Agree with honeypot . And would still assume it was to do with Quarter Horses.

Agree with Honeypot, too.
It was I who brought in the name "Festival" to the NPS (Spring) Championships. The A|utumn ones have very sucessfully followed on.
The name came to me as we were deciding on the format of the Show. And we all (for once!) agreed on it immediately. So, so it should be to you with your new show.
It's a bit like writing a book and knowing the all-important selling title in advance.
So.... what is 'new' about your show??... To which sector are you marketing? And why??? - there - hopefully that may help you a bit.

Northern and borders - I'm sure this belongs to another society. Can't really name after a place incase I move it and/or do a southern equivilant. What about "Name in Lights" or " "Northern Lights" ?

If it's a championship show how about something like 'creme de la creme'

Post by cheekychops on Dec 3, 2011 19:21:45 GMT
Yes I like that. To be fair I'm not sure anymore what makes something a championship show. There's "champion" this and "champion" the other and its just a snappy title. I suppose when I think of championship shows I this of the affiliated society championships. I want my show to be accessible, fun, credible, fair and rewarding......................bit of a mouthful though.
I do like creme da la creme.

Will the finalists have qualified at xxx Q's - offered during the year? Because how otherwise could they be named as 'the cream of the cream? (altho' I do admit, it sounds a very beguiling name.....)
