Hello all,
I am new here and just thought I'd give this a shot. I have a pony here(hopefully pictured) that I bought as a rescue/project. Usual story, whilst I would never have let anyone I was advising buy her or pay what I did, I acted on impulse and bought her out of sympathy. I have subsequently found out her early history and pieced together the rest having got to know her and her issues. We did have her going really nicely under saddle(much more major achievement than we had expected) but unfortunately we keep two entires on the stud and that coupled with raging hormones and baby cravings plus an at some point fairly serious looking girth gall scar means that she can be dramatically cold backed momentarily. So it has been decided that she should be allowed her baby(she has spent the summer trying to steal and taking better care of the foal we have than its mother does). HOWEVER we don't breed for colour nor for the show ring and to be honest I think she could breed someone the foal of a lifetime if anyone was happening to want an angelic, blonde, show prince or princess. We breed primarily dressage themed, sports ponies and she could as easily do this but I haven't yet found a cremello stallion I really like so can't justify spending the money on a stud fee when I like the boys I have.
I don't want her to go back in the big, bad world to get lost again so am only thinking a loan or temporary swap at least initially or she could be based here if required but think she could do a better job for someone else.
I would consider a swap for something really quite little ie shetland or shettie dartmoor cross or similar that could play with my 2 yr old son so an older one is fine and we can cope with laminitics temporarily or longer term. I would be happy also to loan her with view to either her returning when not needed or making it more permanent if all was settled. She will also I suspect make a cracking companion/foster mother for an orphan or very young weanling and is just unbelievably good with our foal considering it isn't hers so if anyone needed to borrow her to do this kind of job I'd be very happy as would she(not the right time of year for this but don't ask don't find out).
Any ideas welcome and please don't read into this that she is not worth breeding from because she is, I am trying to trace her breeding at the moment, I know where she came from but records were not really a concern of theirs at the time, she is a welsh partbred of some sort, if we don't find somewhere for her to go it is likely she will have her foal here and go to the SPSS grading next year as I think she is more than up to standard.
Thanks to anyone who read all that and nice to meet you
