It must be the month for p-- takes.. I just need a moan, last viewing didnt go so well, people who came to view obviously expected him to jump through hoops in school knee deep on a pony who had been stuck in all that week, perhaps i shouldve lunged but knew he would be a little fresh and would settle after 10-15min people viewing watched and this is no joke for 5min ! after me telling them he had not been out all week, he didnt do anything really he was actually trying to avoid the really deep parts of the school which unfortunately was most the surface.. said people had got him out trotted up down up down road vaulted on off ect.. but couldnt watch for 5 more min. Instead they say he obviously is not well schooled but still would take him off my hands for 500 quid ! next lady arranges day..then rings day before saying there is one cheaper locally, arranges another day once again changes day.. she should be viewing tomorrow but she just rang to say i think he could be too small actually !! i can't adam n eve it ive just let someone down thinking she was seriously interested..for her to turn round and say that after knowing what height he is when enquiring jeeees.. i am at my wits end sorry just needed to vent

Sorry you had such time wasters, my friend who is a dealer says that no one is serious until the money or a deposit is in his hand, not much help I'm afraid but maybe a sensible way to look at it.

Totally, i did think i would get them.. but its beyond a joke that every single one has been like this. The first viewing couldn't have been better the ground was good yorkie went perfectly couldn't fault him.. but up came the height issue and that warranted 1k off him then of course THEIR travel expenses which would knock off another 500 .. Another perfect veiwing people really like him bearing in mind they read advert ect.. they buy a dales not because of any other reason only they didnt want another jumping pony.. its actually making me laugh

I don't know why people do it!. You read the add, you like the way the pony sounds, you go view it, of course there is room for negotiation but some people just take the pee, almost everyone is under the misapprehension that you will bite their hand off if they offer you a £100! I have a sec a colt I need a loan home for but it's not financial it's time, I would just like him to have a life and not be stood in a field and though I could be persuaded to sell him I won't let him go for pennies. I know some people over estimate the value of their horse but decent horses sell without clowns offering to 'take them off your hands' for practically nothing.

its not essentially the money i'm after either id like him to go some where that has the time and money to show him which isnt unfortunately what i am able to do my plans was to show him but i lost my buisness along with my money hence sale it would seem alot are playing at my situation to get a great quality pony for nothing.. otherwise id never sell and the price is quite low for him as i know its a bad time to sell and the school isnt great either so price got adjusted accordingly, i wish i could keep him really. I just hope next viewing is with a genuinely interested person and is genuinely wanting a fell pony but i darent hold my breath :/

Good luck with selling your pony. I was once selling a lovely New Forest mare - real family pony type, very steady and reliable. SHe was advertised as such - she was 5 and I had had her for a few months bringing her on to sell. Family turned up to view her with their "expert friends", I rode the pony in the school - we walked trotted, cantered on the correct leads - she was a real PC pony type. This family wanted a first pony for their teenag daughter to hack on the forest and do PC stuff - basic up to C Test standard and then the pony would be handed down to the younger daughter. Having brought on a few ponies in my time, and this mare had done prelim dressage, I knew she went quite sweetly. Once the "expert" friend announced that the mare needed total re-schooling (actual words) I just took the mare back in and didnt even say goodbye to the family when they left. I was very cross!!! Someone else came to see the mare in the afternoon - an AI - and couldnt have asid nicer things about the pony and how nicely schooled she was!! Pony went to that home two days later.
Selling ponies is a nightmare - its like selling houses - you hav to wait for the right person to turn up and view.

People messing you about on purpose aside, I always reckon it's more like finding an OH than buying a car - the personalities have to be right so even if it sounds great on paper pony and rider may still not gell when they come to look, nothing that can be done about that!

Hi, people who viewed had no problem with pony, was either cause of height which is stated or price which is also stated or breed.. nothing to do with his personality although he is a very well mannered pony and all who have viewed offered money for him but as said wanted over 1k off cause of above which just isnt on ive bought many horses in the past i used to re-train and sell but never would i have done this if i saw on paper ect about horse id go look and if as said would make a reasonable offer close to asking price not say well the height is an issue so can take him off your hands for practically nothing its just rude,if i wasnt interested then i wouldn't make offer full stop. mollymalone i know that exact scenario happened too although still wanted my dangerous and un-schooled pony who a novice 11yo girl had been riding up till two month ago. Have a viewing tomorrow i hope there will be no messing around this time.

I'm sure the right home will come along for your pony.
I do look at this from both sides.... Now I'm not suggesting that ur a time waster I'm just referring to my own buying experience. It took me the best part of 18 months to find my boy, and I did go look at a fair few (nothing off here!) but I found pony was very different to the ads, went to one and he had half an ear missing ( yes seriously!) but there was no mention of this before I turned up. Another 100% bombproof novice ride , started bronking everytime a white van went past. And one that was covered in little lumps all over!! That's just a few to mention!!!!
I don't c y people would go look at a pony if they want something bigger, if the ad fits what you want then you should go see it!!!
Also I think that some people (not referrIng to you) over price their horses with nothing to back it up!
I've seen ur pony and he really is nice, I'm sure he will find the right home.

I do completely agree that it can be both sides, but in this case it really is a case of pure mick taking.. why would they still want to buy a pony they say is too small another unschooled and another due to his breed? list is endless and price is well under what he should be but i was hoping to find a good home with his price being as it is although id rather a good home than the money im not giving him away. I can't understand either its been said before if they want something bigger why bother viewing a fell and not a dales. Anyway, ive had a good chat with next viewee and double checked infact treble checked that she is happy with height and breed and age and price, still very keen so fingers are crossed although id had lengthy chats with others about him as i like to know about the buyer aswell and what they intend to do with him and so on. I have been honest about my pony it just makes you feel like rubbish with all the time and getting to from stables for a viewing as i'm 45 mile away so the lengthy call is also to try and make sure he would be suitable, which he must be if said people do still want him just want so and so knocking off for their transport and height and age ect.. i mean im not saying that i wouldnt negotiate but what id been offered is just ridiculous if its down to things they knew when enquiring in the first instance.

Thank's i am praying they dont say he's too small or they would rather a dales.. i wouldn't be able to tell what my or even my partners reaction would be ( he is designated driver ) as my motor decided to die just before setting off for one viewing. its been a difficult decision as it is even my partner is reluctant for him to go and he isnt a horse lover really

I dislike people who come out to buy after they have seen the pony advertised and its totally not what they are looking for. i had my section d advertised as a 10 yr mare, been there done it all. jumps everything hacks out etc she was bombproof in everyway. i had said she was suitable for someone who was moving up on a bigger pony and wanted to compete etc. i had a family ring wanted a jumping pony ( she was 14.2hh LHC and had BSJA) but also wanted to do PC and a general fun pony. PERFECT i thought just the family. They came with 3 children the mum and her friend. everyone of them rode her, jumped her, had her in the school, alround the cross country couse, hacked her out. EVERY POSSIBLE THING. they were there for 3 hours. arranged everything to take her then rung me the next day to say she was nt suitable. WHY? ? because she jumped to well for the novice rider?!?!?! angry was a understatement. but then a few days later a lovely young girl came tried her and paid for her straight away. A lovely family and we see her competing most weekends. there are nice people out there. m my rant over

Not condoning that at all, but as I buyer I think it is your responsibility to say. 'You can come see the pony, however I do not have facilities available, the pony can only be shown to do x,y,z.
Now before travelling I would always ask what facilities are available, I cannot judge a so called dressage pony in a bog.

Ready for this... I am selling a 19 month old warmblood colt he will make 17 hh first potential buyer I spoke to on the phone told her all about him sent her pics from him being born up to date via email, they arranged to view ... Well a 15 yr old girl ( novice might I add) turned up with her dad in a flash car with the money ready to pay, they were stunned when I refused to sell him! The dad says what's wrong with my money ? Erm it's not the money mate it's the fact that my boy is not going to a novice home for his safety and your daughters!!! He was not impressed! Number2 viewing proper quizzed this woman on the phone she had years of experience with youngsters, she turned up and seemed really nice but wanted me to lunge him.... Erm he is 16 months old? I turned him out and she watched him walk trot canter she checked him over, thought he was lovely.... But he was too young?.. Hadn't done enough? What did she want a 16 month old colt to do? Cross country, or a dressage test! Unbelievable. I then on new years day had a girl come from Scotland to view him, her yard had all the facilities horsewlker, gallops, menage etc etc, she planned to keep him entire compete and stand him at stud. Great sounded brilliant, she loved him ( because he is stunning) left £100 deposit and went to arrange transport as he only had a trailer apparently and wanted his first journey o be in a wagon. 1 week later I email her as no contact she emails back unable to get transport still trying ! A couple of emails later and a couple of weeks and she has now sorted transport but her stable has been taken so she is looking or a new yard? Ok ... 4 weeks later my illness has pit me back in hospital so I email again she replies saying she cannot find a stable so I should advertise him in th meantime while she continues to look for a stable! Since then no contact however I have been reliably informed that she has bought a mare in foal for next to nothing and is advertising for a new livery yard as hers is closing down??? Is it just me or do some people find it far too easy to blatantly lie to others!

Yes, it is a shame. Unfortunately found this with lady who ended up buying mine and he is up for sale again i was livid.. but calm now as he is on a yard where they will find a brilliant home for him. Its a pure nightmare and i hope i dont end up in this situation ever again. And hope yours who sounds lovely by the way finds his perfect home and no more messers.
