mooching through for sale ads and well was pretty shocked when i found this :
Yearling Colt
Full bred colt, 15 months old. Just been broken in to drive, has been on the road a few times. Not been tried in anyway.
Bred out of Casino Cowboy back to a full bred mare. Has just been shod and goes on box without any problem.

goons, not heard that in ages!!
it makes me sad that the poor little beastie has been broken to drive at such a young age, unfortunately though this seems to happen a lot more often than you would think, and without sounding stereotypical/racist it happens a lot in the travelling community

the little lad i rescued 2 years ago (who had now turned into a lovely handsome brute) had been broken to harness at 16 months poor little lad he was so terrified of everthing and everybody, he is so chilled now tho, i still always think of the other poor things though

I'm seeing it more and more!! I saw a 16month old colt the other day who had a child sat on his back in the photo and the ad stated he'd been used as a lead rein pony for their children!! Poor little thing:( the same people had a 2yo colt advertised, and his photo (bearing in mind the pony was only 12.2) had a guy sat on him, whose feet were near enough on the floor, and he wasn't exactly lightweight, put it that way!! I feel so sorry for these little ponies!!!
