This year, my aim is to qualify my cob for Equifest, as a show cob. I've read on here how much fun it is, so I'm desperate to go!
However, everyone seems to be booking stables asap. I don't think I'll feel comfortable doing this till I have qualified, and actually I may be close enough that I don't need to... Or I might know someone closer, we'll see. So do stable run out pretty quick?
Also, on the timetable there are all sorts of cob classes, novice, open etc. There seems to be one every day! So if you qualify in a cob class at a local show, have you qualified for any of these cob classes?? I'm just confused as to how that works!
Also, any other tips are appreciated! ;D

There are lots of classes you dont need to qualify for . The ones you qualify for would start with the word Equifest . I think you can book a stable and if you dont go you can get a refund up till the 1st of August .

We went last year without qualifying for a single class and we had a FANTASTIC time! :-) Advice is to book your stable early and even if you don't qualify for one of the equifest classes, there are still plenty of classes to do every day! I'ts a great show and last year was our 1st year and we can not wait for this year's Equifest :-) It's great fun and there is plenty to do and the evening performances are really good. As for qualifying for us this year, if we do we do, if not we are still going ;-)

ahh ok! I understand now about the classes. I might go even if we don't qualify then, sure the cob would love it!

You can do all the appropriate cob classes but bear in mind the classifications for open and restricted, there are likely to be HOYS/RIHS standard horses coming forward, so consider this when paying entries :-) Its a great show and I am sure you'll enjoy it

possibly a silly question but what are the restrictions of a restricted class? I'll do the equifest cob class if I qualify, and depending if I can raise funds for a duration stable might do the novice classes and home produced. ooh, so excited now! it's so far away though!

Restricted classes are for horses and ponies that have not qualified for HOYS/RIHS-also I think the restriction applies to the jockey as well, but it will state all this in the schedule.

Only the EQUIFEST worded classes are classes you have to qualify for - other than that, you can just GO! I'd book a stable early as there are plenty of classes & it's great fun! See you in August! ;D
