when im riding one of my horses at home he was really arguementative and can be hard work to get to go nicely, but when you get to a show he is the easiest horse to ride and goes foot perfect without even being asked!
im sure people who see me ride at home dont believe how good he really goes, he is always top 3 and has many championships under his belt!
could it just be that he is so used to the school at home and doesnt really bother but shows are more fun?

Well - I think thats brilliant ! My mare Violet can be a total slug at home to school. She used to go to shows and become ALIVE but in a good and focussed way A fantastic attribute for any horse

I have one that is a total ratbag at home and at shows, he has bogeymen that are out to get him. Absolutlely fine until i ask for a extension and its a free for all. If i extend him whilst warming up he is ok....i need to put weights on his hind legs to keep them on the floor..lol

We have ones who prefer shows - it just usually means they get bored easily at home & don't want to work, but at shows it's fun & exciting & your horse may be the type who loves working somewhere new. Try just hacking him at home if he doesn't need the work

glad mines not the only one!!! i suppose it is good that he likes showing off! he is so good and well behaved at shows, as soon as he gets in the ring he just loves the attention and all eyes on him!!
i do really need to do more hacking, but with working 9-5 and it being winter i cant in the week. roll on the lighter nights!
