Hi guys! So my little girl is nearly 3 and don't worry not sending her in the ring straight away but she is obessed with horses! My question for you lot is what colour pony should i be looking for her, she has strawberry roan hair! Obviously the temperment of the Pony is far more important just wondering everyone's views! And then what colour tie and theme should be, it's one of those things I'm sure most mums ask in their heads whilst waiting for their kids to grow up! I'm thinking a grey pony a maybe a brown theme but not sure how that will look!

i dont think you should be basing the future pony for your daughter on colour coordinating hair and pony coat, showing is much more based on anything but matching hair for rider and pony, one of the nost ridiculous things i have ever heard :s

Whoa, steady down. Talk about putting the cart before the horse I'm sure your colour schemes will fall beautifully into place when you find a suitable mount and you will have the perfect little accessory (have you thought about what YOU will wear in lead rein classes also? ). I suppose a grey does go with allsorts of hair colours so you should be ok. Or you could go for a matching pink pony and then you'd be certain of the "pony most like its owner" rosette. Sorry to be blunt but are you quite certain your 3 year old wants a pony, i personally would wait until she was down on her knees begging for one. Ponies and small children are very cute in the showring but not necessarily when its minus 5, blowing a gale , knee deep in mud and small child wants to stay in and watch cbeebies. Good luck though finding your perfect partner should you decide to go ahead!

If your daughter has strawberry blonde hair, why not get a Strawberry roan pony (pink!) and then their pony tails can match! ;D
Good Lord, this can only be intended, I hope, as wind up...

I was gonna say colour doesn't matter just don't get a grey unless you like to bath.

I think you all may of mis-interprided my question I was only asking the question more as vision in my head, everyone dreams of that perfect pony for their child! And as I said the temperament Is far more important than the look, we already have bred a pErfect little pony for all of the kids to use if they wish, I should of chosen my words more carefully. I do apologise if any of you thought Otherwise! I would never force my child into a ring if she did not wish! I was more asking for a reference on what would clash with her hair colour.

My daughter has strawberry blonde/red ish hair & she is going to have orange accessories (tie, bows etc), we have a chesnut & white pony so he matches her but never went out to buy him based on colour only realised when we got him home he was ginger too and they matched! so I think the orange/brown jacket theme will suit them both, but agree with the others once you have chosen the right pony everything else will fall into place
If she is anything like my daughter dont do pink or red it clashes like mad

To be honest I don't think hair colour would really be an issue - you probably wouldn't be able to see her hair colour once it's neatly tied up under her riding hat anyway.
