i use alfa oil is brings out a beautiful shine. my black section d has only been on it for 2/3wks maximum. from looking like a dull coat on a field kept mare she now shines like glass. we use alvagleam before the horses go in the show ring. its abit pricey but works fab

some people say that eggs work!!?? also sounds weird, but a spray called 'dark and lovely' made for afros, so its good as it give a shine, without grease. Cheap and smells nice!!!

try using "bay wash" when you bath him before a show. i know its says bay but it really works for all colours really - bay, chestnut, palamino ect. hopefully that will help.

you will also find as i did when i ran out of my fav shampoo ( red rum condtioning) that if you use any purple or whitening shampoo designeds for greys on any other colour its actually a colour enhancer and will bring out a bloom, also a good douse of coat gloss after sweat scraping all over, topped on show day by a coat of dazzle spray and a good brushing, for a quick fix, nought like good old cod liver oil for coat bloom.
