Don't get me started........... funnily enough I have just been speaking to a friend who has advertised on here a few times, and swapping timewaster stories, you could write a book!

I agree - it is just bad manners. I recently put a wanted advert on here and have replied to everyone who emailed me (and there were lots!). Not a lot to ask when people have gone to the trouble to reply.

I've had so many timewasters with my pony, people arranging to pick her up and not getting back to me, same as others have said I've sent pics and more details but not even a thanks but no thanks and I've had 2 viewings, both tried the pony, went for a lovely hack and were over the moon with her, one was more or less coming back the next day to collect her as daughter wouldn't even get on her own pony at home but had the confidence on mine to trot her round country lanes off the lead rein and neither have got back to me!!!! I think they just wanted a free hack for their children

.....and also have to add that a lot of people want "cheap" whether pony is top quality or not! I have a stunning 3 year old cob filly for sale with top breeding out of a mare I paid good money for and out of a stallion whose covering fee is not "cheap" I have kept her for 3 years and she has matured into a strapping filly. Do people want to pay a decent price? No they do not. So she can stay with me until the market changes!

Really bugs me when there are no prices on adverts tho!!!!!
With regards to prices, I think in this current climate things are not worth what they once were and some ponies are over priced. I think if ur waiting for the market to pick up you may be waiting sometime...............there isn't the cash about that there once was, and there's so much for sale that people will always keep an eye out for the cheaper option.

And that is why she will stay here. If people cannot afford to pay a decent price (and have to say I was selling similar animals at double this price 4 years ago), then they probably could not give her the life she deserves and would throw a wobbly at the 1st vet bill or unexpected cost. Sorry but for as long as we all take advantage of the downturn in the market we can all expect no better! As for putting a price on an ad I do usually, but as previous customers have found, I will move the goalposts for the right home. Doesn't mean I will let good ponies and cobs go to someone wanting a cheapie!

Diane please don't think I was referring to you with my comments, just talking generally! I think part of the problem with ponies not selling is that there are just far to many around rite now, I no I wouldn't want the financial commitment of another! But having no manners is just pig ignorant, I no I wasn't brought up that way and I'm only 26!a simple thanks but not for me really doesn't take long, and I hate people txting about ads but I wouldn't mind a txt saying no thanks, where have people's manners gone!

It's not just ponies, I've advertised quite a few different items, sent loads if pics and info. Then nothing, the worst are those who agree to buy then go back on their decision without even letting you know.

What about sellers who time waste? Those who try to hide obvious faults or miss important things out like " has previously suffered with laminitis" or " doesn't go in a snaffle?" ...people are so desperate to sell they seem to be going to all kinds of lengths to get a viewing let alone a sale!!!!! I think sellers need to accept that when they put an advert up then it is to be expected that you will be asked for photos if there are none or prices if there are none etc etc....if you want to avoid this then put it all on the advert in the first place. When I sell any of mine I try to be thorough becuase i know I am precious with time. I don;t think it is always rudeness which stops people replying...what about forgetfulness, work and other life events getting in the way? I also think sellers should not be so defensive if they don't sell to a particular buyer.....if someone doesn't like your pony it doesn't mean they are time wasters and often until you try something you never know what it is really like? As for a free hack for a child - that's bonkers!!! ? why would anyone risk a child on a strange pony, travel around the country etc etc for a free hack? I don't think people are looking for bargains, I think they are being choosy with their cash because the market is on its butt and they can be more selective about where to spend their cash. I think someone looking for a bargain at £2000 ( if 2000 worth of purchase is considered a cheap buy!!) is't necessarily a bad owner. It doesn't mean they can't afford to keep, feed, insure the pony...it might just mean that right now 3000 outlay is hard for them. With the rising costs of diesel etc you can now add almost 1000 to the cost of a purchase with the additional extras of travel, vettings, visits to try ponies, tack ( as lets face it not much comes with a wardrobe these days) etc etc.....so what may be 2000 to a seller is actually more like 3000 to the buyer. You have to ask yourself whats better a really nice decent home at a lesser price or keeping a quality animal turned away for a year doing nothing in the hopes of things getting better...which in the meantime could devalue the pony anyway?
