hi i have a yearling colt who keeps getting cast, he has a very large stable and big bankings, any ideas how to stop him and/or thoughts on why hes doing it. All advise greatly received, worried he will hurt his beautiful little leggies and hes hopefully going to be a top show horse. thanks.

Hi hes turned out every day, heard good and bad things about anti cast rollers so just wondered if there was any reason or anything else i could do to stop him. Its a nightmare, but i imagine you know how it feels, thanks

Not much help, but all my colts/baby geldings went through a phase of getting cast when they first came in over night, did it about 5 or 6 times then seemed to get the idea of where not to roll. Never had the same problem with fillies. Interesting.

My mare was always getting cast as a youngster, even as a foal much to her mothers concern. But now she is older she has learned some sense and is ok. Lets hope your colt grows out of it soon.

I always use anti cast rollers on big babies when they are in.

thanks for all your replies, given him huge bankings and getting rubber strips put round the stable to see if that helps, if not will be getting anti cast roller
