My section C colt has lost all of his feather, due to the mud burning it off when he goes out everyday ....i thought i was imagining it at first and thought he musn't have had as much feather as i thought but when i look back at pictures from the beginning of the season he had plenty of feather... Does anybody know of anything that will premote hair growth...i have heard that Pig Oil is good...im going to start putting his turnout boots on and udder-cream as a barrier on his legs....does anybody have any other idea I dont want judges marking him down if they think he hasn't got enough feather. Thanks in advance

A lot of people on here swear by Megatek for manes, don't know if you could use it on legs as well?

I think it's from a company called Tailgator.

The megatek will help encourage the hair to grow back, but IMO the best stuff to use as a barrier is Nettex Muddy Marvel - it stays on for up to a fortnight which is better (but more expensive) than pig oil.

I'm not sure whether pig oil will help them grow bck but it certainly helps to stop them burning off - I used it on my Fell this year & he hasn't lost any. I'm also using megatek on my new Fell'smane as he has rubbed some of it away - it is regrowing quite quickly but not sure if it would have done this anyway.

Pig oil. it will stop the hair becoming so brittle when the mud comes again.

corne crecent (if thet is how you spell it) works wonders on growth on hair we used in on our mare as when we bought her she had no mane as it had been rubbed off by rugs. we got told to use it by a friend at never looked back. it is a bit styicky but works wounders

I bought some socks for horses. You pull them over their legs/feathers and turn them out. The must sticks to the socks then when they come in just dunk them in a bucket of water and they are dry by morning! The company also do summer ones which are anti-fly as well. They are doing a winter special offer on the socks at the moment. About £7 a pair - I bought 4 pairs. They are an american company and order at www.whinneywarmers.com. I emailed them and they sorted out payment via email and a 30 sec phone call and it was cheaper than doing it on-line.

Sound interesting, but that link is taking me to a website design company for some reason.
