Just read the summer shoe schedule and it appears that plated ponies don't loive this far north? Spring schedule only has m&m's and SHP's!!! Dissapointing in shows that i attended last year!

Wishiwasrich - sorry you are disappointed with the classes on offer at this show - do take it up with the committee, as branches normally run a full range of classes at their summer events to help members qualify for POYS. Perhaps they can address the matter for 2013
We have a full range of plaited classes at the Spring Spectacular on March 17th/18th. I realise it is a lot further to travel but it may be worth it for the choice of classes for plaited, M&M, I/H, WHP etc

Was just about to put on a thread but youv betten me to it, just had alook at the summer schedule and guess what all M&Ms . To be Exact do we need 19 varying m&m classes, 3 driving a best turned out, a beginners showing, 1 x vetran in hand and 2 young handler and ? oh no thats it.....ridiculous. This is the ONLY equifest qualifier within a 100 mile radius for us and thats not exagerating!!! NCPA Cumbria branch is struggling with its membership and they wonder why!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear! I have just been looking at the NCPA Derbys Spring show schedule and that is the same - all M&Ms, such a shame not to be able to get the plaiteds out for a warm-up (especially novices!). I know that the shows have to go with what they will get entries for as their costs are so high, but would be nice if they were able to squeeze in even a mixed height SP and SHP in between the M&Ms...

Apologies - thought I had read all 30 classes properly, but it would appear not! there is an in-hand class for non-M&M and also a ridden class. Actually not sure now as to me it reads open to any except reg M&M, pure breed or part bred - so does that mean PBW etc cannot enter? now getting confused! Also what about a pure welsh being shown as SP/SHP? I am probably missing something really obvious! !

norwalk, the derbys spring one is something I've already complained about. Basicly the only class for anything plaited is the NCPA registered classes inhand and ridden. Any plaited pony that is registered with the NCPA can enter them.
Guess that NCPA cumbria wont be one I am going to either.

The NCPA Derbyshire do have classes for non M and M classes, we put on coloured classes a couple of years ago and one pony entered in both classes, it is so expensive to hire venues and we have to put classes on that will get entries to cover the costs. If the non native classes get the entries I will put on more classes in 2013, but if they don't get supported we can't justify putting them on, so instead of being so negative support the classes!
NCPA is a charitable society, we can't afford to run shows that don't get supported or break even.
Please could people suggest classes they would like and then support them and hopefully everyone would then be happy.
Conniegirl, the Classes you are referring to are open to any pony, they are NCPA members classes not registered classes, ponies that are registered will get their point too - best of both worlds.

Perhaps if there are good entries in the hunter pony & coloured classes at the show on 15th April it will encourage the branch to put them on for 2013 Summer Show - why not attend your branch AGM to discuss these points before 2013 shows are arranged? Or see if you can arrange some sponsorship, as it may be that the sections did not cover their costs in 2011.

Unfortunatly we cannot show my pony under the SHP judge and she is most deffinatly a SP not a SHP? We have decided to take a young M&M to do in hand as we have trophies to take back before the summer show. Sorry but we will not be attending the Summer show, Shedule just isn't good enough to warrent the diesl to get there. I understand that this may well only be me that is effected by having a FR SP. We are all struggling to contiune competing due to costs and unfortunatly we can no longer afford to attend a show because we like the society or had a great time there last year, the shedule has to offer classes suitable for our ponies/children. Re the AGM - again it is held along way from us, maybe we could submit comments via e-mail?

wishiwasrich - I completely understand your point - do email your branch (& the office for that matter gensec@thencpa.co.uk ) and make the email a formal request so that it has to be dealt with in AOB at the branch AGM
Any correspondence of this nature sent to the office gets brought to the next council meeting (dates published in your Yearbook) where hopefully Cumbria branch will send their delegates and the matter could be discussed.

I paid to become a member of the Cumbria branch & attended a few shows but 99% of the time it was the same little group of people / ponies that won, the judges were appalling, basically didn't know their ass from their elbow And before anyone jumps on my head & says I'm a sore looser or some similar cr*p my pony won her class, not that that means much just one persons opinion on the day! Lots of people were complaining about the judging in the lorry park, some even left before entering classes they had paid for due to it!! Needless to say I won't be wasting any money renewing my membership with them any time soon

sts - I am very sorry you are so disappointed about a recent NCPA show.
Could I respectfully advise you that your subscription is to NCPA (Northern Counties Pony Association) not to a branch.
This means you have members' rights at all 11 branches, 3 main branch shows (including the Pony of the Year Championship Show) as well as training clinics etc giving access to over 30 shows.
I am sure you will find some classes or judges who suit your requirements at other events, and hope you enjoy them more.
