Going from inhand showing this season to ridden with harvey, i am in need of some long leather riding boots. I have the problem of big calves.
Where do people buy from or do you get them hand made to order. Going to buy a decent pair to last so dont mind spending a little more.
Any suggestions?

From personal experience, it's very difficult to find long leather boots for showing, particularly for larger calves. I don't have huge legs, but I do have small feet and manufacturers seem to think small feet means skinny legs! The closest I got was a pair of Regent Oakley (not sure if they still make them) but I still found them torturous to wear and I gave up on them after suffering a really bad bout of cramp one night after having worn them most of that day. I now have a pair of Sarm Hippiques which are dressage cut but more and more people are wearing dressage cut in the ring now and they are sooooooo much more comfortable than any other leather boots I have tried (and I have tried a few!) They have shot up in price now though so it is probably worth trying saddlers who will make to measure.

I am another fan of Sarm Hippiques, I dont have large calves and often get told how slender they are, however when it came to finding long leather boots for showing I struggled and my calves wouldnt fit comfortably into any boot, however as soon as I slipped on the Sarms they were comfortable and fitted great, they werent cheap but I have had mine 5 years now, they look as good as new still and are like wearing slippers

This is my issue aswell i had some sherwood forest ones that were wide but the more excercise i do the stronger and thicker my calves become and i cant zip them up now, so had them to the cobblers for extra 2" round the calves...
