I had my horse for sale a very heavy coloured cob, my pride and joy what Ive had since he was 1 year old and now is 9 but I dont use him enough so decided selling him is best thing to do. A disabled riding school got in touch, asked will I send more info. So I did they came to view him and asked if they could have a month trail. I was told by them that he will love it there and they have great facilites and due to them being a charity and volenteer'sI had no doubts. I signed an agreement to say if horse was very ill it can be put to sleep and what people will be riding him. They took him there and said he was doing fine first few days, she then started to say he was green in the cart which he has drove for 4 years an never bats an eyelid and is perfect in cart. So I told her my lowest price was 2,500 due to the fact he was going to a 'good home', she said she can only get 2,000. So i went down today to have a look round if place was nice would of took 2,000 as home is more important. I went down and was appauled, he has lost LOADS of weight, has mites, not been rugged up like I asked and offerd to send rugs, had NO feed in, has scurvy covered in dihoreha on his back end and tail, he was just stood there didnt lift his head and could be pushed over was that exsausted, I told them to get him delivered back tomorrow morning. I'm gutted that I had let him go there and that I was going to leave him there. In futre i will make sure the agreement say the horse will return as it was sent. I'm absolutley FUMINNN!!!!

Sorry but why did you not go and check the yard out before sending your 'beloved' horse there And why did you not go and check on him after he had had chance to settle in Sorry but if I was handing my horse over to complete strangers, charity or no charity, I would be doing all the inspections and making all the enquiries I could, I would also be looking for references etc

so sorry your lad was not looked after properly. It's so hard to put them in some one elses care when you love them. Then to find out they are not being cared for properly must be heart breaking. you were not to know they would mis treat him. At least he wil be back home soon and being looked after in the way he is used too. Hope he picks up soon xx

All the other horses were of a good standad, had good weight on them and was clean'ish. He was kept nothing like them horses and due to the fact he was only there 2 and half weeks I didnt think he could of gone that back so quickly. And other people that came to view him didnt work at the centre and said it was great there so I would class these as refree's

Why didn't you check the place before the horse went there? It's no good checking it after its been there for a while and the damage has been done...........

The place had been checked and there facilites are great, other horses were in good condition so I had no reason to think other wise, I did what I thought was right and thought it would of been perfect for him

Seems very strange that they looked after the other horses really well but didn't look after yours to the same good standard..........

I'm sure lolol has asked herself many times if she could have done more checks on the place he was going. But some times a horse just misses his or her home and will lose weight and condition practically over night. It is so difficult to let them go to some one eles care, may be we just take it for granted that they will be be cared for correctly. How could any one not treat our beloved horse well? Luckily he hasn't been away too long and will be back to his normal self soon xx

I know the whole thing seems very strange I couldnt agree more, the girl that shown me him was embarassed and dint have much to say. I will be seeing the woman who was responsible for him 2moz and carnt wait to see what she has to say. And thanks charliesmum yes I could of done more but as far as I was concerned everything seem fine. I accept it was partly my fault but am glad he will be home tomorow and will post a pic to show the diffrence. i belive as he is rugged up loads and she hasent had one on him and ive just found out he has been living out he must of shivered alot of the weight off. i wont be making the mistake again

Poor bugger. I really liked him when he was advertised and considered buying him. But am sure there was a kerfuffle over your advert and it disappeared. Unless that was another dapple cob. It may well have been
Glad he coming home to you for some tlc

I'm locking this thread, as I recognised the picture of the horse and this is in fact a member who was banned and has re-joined under another name.
