Just bought a Bucas sunshower reflective light rug which would have been fine for UV /fly and general summer use but far too tight around our chunky Welsh D mare's shoulders!
Other than buying a chest expander, can anyone from experience tell me what's the best make of extra light t/o or fly rug for the wider pony?
Preferably would like a rug that is as lightweight as possible otherwise this pony would probably overheat.
Many thanks.

I always tend to buy Rambo fly rugs. My d mare used to hate anything clingy and i bought her a Rambo Protector a size bigger, i always tend to do this with fly rugs anyway as they can be on the tight side around the necks.

agree - premier equine but they can be heavy. Mark Todd ones are also good for thick necks and wide bodies!

I suppose I should have known that Bucas seem notorious for being tight on the wider pony!

Find Weatherbeeta , JHL or Mark Todd all good on big chested ponies.

Mark Todd are the only fly rugs that I have found to fit my D across the chest and round the neck, Weatherbeta are great without the neck but find the neck covers too tight.

Looks like MT..WBeeta..PEquine or JHL are the ones to ferret through then for the wider mare!

Premier Equine are a brilliant fit and really good quality. The have just introduced some ultra light rugs in their Spring range. I am debating because I want them all but don't need them as my old Premier Equine are still perfect.

I must check on that because I thought the only problem with the PE fly/lite rugs was that they are rather warm.
