I will be starting my horses ridden career when he's finished schooling, I'm just going to try a few local shows towards the end of summer to get him out and about. Ill be doing ridden hunter and novice horse. What is to be expected in a novce class are there certain things the judge overlooks such as wrong legging it etc, I haven't got a clue as never done it before. I'm a veteran at inhand showing but the ridden world is all new to me really. Thanks

You do usually get penalised for a wrong leg but not so much as in an open aslong as you correct it. Things like not standing, being a little slow in their transitions, being pokey nosed, going a little off track, spooking etc. will be expected in a novice horse (hopefully not all of them) but of course you get open ponies in novice classes which will do a perfect show so dont always compare to others.
