Hi
My 9year old staffie is in season has been in about a week now but she isn't eating and she is giving off a real whiff!!I noticed she had been sick today when I got home but she had eaten most of it before I got back. She has lost alot of weight also and looking very sorry for her self. I have her booked in at the vets first thing in the morning but just wondered am I worrying over nothing or could there be something else going on?? Shes defiantly not her self but then we have put her in the back room so shes not messing all over the house so again she could just be feeling sorry for her self..
thanks in advance.

If it was my dog noddy I would be taking her to the vets too, even if it is just for piece of mind but from what you've said there's obviously something not quite right with her. What is she normally like during her seasons? Have you tried offering her something different to eat? Has she just lost weight whilst she been in season, is she drinking?

Just while in season. Yes drinking have offered other food but she doesnt seem interested at all. Shes normally really feisty also and she just doesnt seem interested in anything. Not even to annoy the next door neighbours dog!! which really isnt like her. She looks like no one owns her.. I'm starting to worry now as shes normally a bubbly little thing. Never known her to be like this before when in season.

Have you taken her temp? Haas she any abnormal discharge? I agee with ponygirl000 get her to the vets sooner rather than later to rule out pyometra. My girl had pyometra but luckily I got her to the vets in plenty of time

Is she drinking more than usual? I agree with the others, I would be worried about pyometra, I'd definitely take her to the vets.

Ellie dog is at the vets. The vet has said she is basically rotting from the inside!! She is having her womb removed this morning and hopefully will be home this evening providing there is nothing more going on in there! I feel so guilty that I didn't do something sooner but she really did go down hill in the last day or too so fast! Fingers crossed she will be ok after her op and she will be back to her normal self in couple of weeks or so. Thanks everyone for your advice

Ellie was sadly PTS this afternoon.. The infection had spread and attacked her liver. My vet thought she had probably been ill alot longer than we had thought. He explained that dogs espeacially her breed are tough little nuts and dont like showing they are weak. He suspected she had been ill for months and it was only when it was too late that any she started showing any signs... I feel so guilty that I hadnt done anything sooner but has he said I was not to know...
Thanks everyone for you advice...
